We were fostering a litter of 3 puppies that all came down with the parvo virus. 2 of them passed and the other is still with us and seems to now be thriving. They were diagnosed this past Wed. In all my family's years of fostering/rescue and having dogs of our own, we've never had any with parvo. I was just wondering when we will know when he is totally "out of the woods"? We're no longer having to run him fluids and the vet is saying to allow him to eat dry puppy food which he is doing several times a day but in very small amounts. He does still take amoxi and is eating baby food products and boiled chicken & rice (which hes NOT thrilled about lol). I am keeping in touch with my vet about this little fellow but just wondering if anyone had a puppy survive this virus? He is about 10wks old now and approx 6lbs. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y38/creativemisery/puppy2.jpg
Ask the vet for INTERFERON...may have spelled wrong. That is great stuff when you have a Parvo pup. Keep boths eyes on him,,He can go right back down. If he is off the I.V. that is a good thing, BUT he has to be eatting good and drinking good. Cefa drops would be a stronger antibiotic. Ask about that 2. Keep him Stress free and very loved, and he should be fine. I will pray for him ..
