I cant get Daisy into the vet till Saturday but wanted to know if there was anything I could do for her now that would help. She caught a squirrel a few days ago and last night I noticed that one side of her mouth was slightly swollen. And tonight there is a very small dot on it of puss. Is there anything I can put on her lip to help, or draw out the puss?
i agree with what icyhound said. when my cat had an abcess behind his ear thats what we did and the vet said that was the right thing to do. i hope this helps a little and i wish you good luck with your dog (i know it can be scary when something like this happens to a pet)

You know we live very close to you, and that is what I am worried about. I have never seen so many squirrels in my life. Its like they are breeding like everything. Max has caught one and buried it. It didn't get bit, (this time) but I don't want my dogs catching them. I can't have flowers and last year we bought a new swing for the back yard and they eat the cushions out of it. I could not believe it. We hare being invaded. Ha
Daisy caught 4 when we live in Lewisville and this is the third one she had caught her, its only a prob in early spring when the new babies come out. Once they learn about Daisy they stay out of my back yard, or at least stay out of her reach. It just the new ones. They have been so bad that when we were in Lewisville they were eatting wholes in the side of the house, and getting in the attic, lucky enough that hasnt happen here yet.
the warm compress did help, nothing yellow came out, just a little blood, so hopefully it will not be to bad. She is up to date on all shots, so she is protected from anything it could have been carrying.
Hope she gets okay. I don't really know that much about squirrels, as far as if they carry rabies etc. I still don't want my dogs to get a hold of one. But, boy I don't know what you do they are coming out of the woodwork.
I found out the hard way that they don't carry rabies. I got bit by one when I was pregnant and I went to the ER because rabies wouldn't be good. The hospital called whoever they call for things like that and we found out that squirrels do not carry rabies.
I know that's not what you were asking, but I thought I'd throw it in. :-)
Hope that Daisy is okay. Last year my daughter left her car window slightly open and a squirrel got in and after it peed and pooped all over the inside it ate up her dashboard and the seats..they had to get animal control to get it out
