HI, I have a five month old pup and I noticed today that my pup's upper back tooth looks loose the area is verydark red. I know loosing puppy teeth is normal, but should the gums really look that dark red it almost looks black? Could it be infected? It looks like it may be bothering him because he is pretending to chew, but he has nothing in his mouth.
The teeth may not be coming through the skin correctly, or the adult teeth may not be moving the puppy teeth out of the way. Try giving him ice cubes or something cold to chew on. And call your vet to have them check it out and make sure it's nothing abnormal. You didnt mention what breed your dog was but some breeds do havea lot of problems with their teeth.
I have a mixed breed dog. He is part sheperd and something else, but I am not to sure. Well anyways, I am concerned because he has been chewing on a cow hoove for about three days. I am wondering if he could have broke a tooth because they are so hard. I read somewhere that this could happen, ecspecially from cow hooves. If this is the case do you think it is as painful as humans breaking a tooth. If so, maybe , I should take him to the vet tonight.
i say the same, try and get him to the vet as soon as possible, could be part of a tooth that didn't come all the way out or the permanant teeth trying to come up. by all means, call your vet and have him seen to make sure there is no infection or something stuck in the gum.
