I posted a question yesterday but it has disappeared so I'm going to try again because I'm positive I didn't break any rules.
I'm investigating the different types of testing that can be done on my dogs. I'm very familiar with DNA and OFA testing, I was just wondering if anyone has any information on any other testing? Is there specific names for the tests?
Have you gone to the OFA web site they have many test that can be done. They list the diffrent clinics that the test can be sent to.
If you check the clinic they list the test and what breeds the test are done for.
Also if you go to the AKC web site they have a section for breeding. One there you will find a I think 9 step might be more. Anyway it will tell you the different things you should do before and after breeding and whelping.
There they have other test and things to do.
Like (spelling is wrong on the first two):
Thyrode, Brussiolosis, eye certification. Then in some breeds you need to have a cardiac certification done.
With Aussies you need to have the puppies eyes certified. With argintina Dogos and Dalmations you need to have a BEAr test done. If you have an aussie that is mostly white you would probably want to have the BEAR test done also, since they are usually deaf.
Thanks for the information. I didn't visit the websites. The information I had was given to me by my vet in pamphlet form and it didn't list all the different tests. I have been trying to google some information but nothing showed up that really was answering my questions.
I will start with the AKC website and move on from there. Thanks so much!
