I have had a heck of a time trying to get rid of these yucky little tapeworm pests. Well, my puppy had them first and we treated her with Droncrit(34 mg) from the vet. She is now fine. My other 5 year old lab got them too a couple of weeks ago. I noticed today that my oldest lab had a few segments of the worm in her poop. Her poop has not been as firm either. The droncrit tablets are very expensive. The more the dog weighs the more medication they need. Well, I have spent over 100$ just on this medication for my puppy and 5 year old lab. I was looking on the internet and noticed that petsmart now sells praziquantel 34mg 5 tablets for only 19.99. I think Droncrit is praziquantel too?. Has anyone ever used this medication from petsmart it is called trade winds tape worm remover? Do you think it will be safe for my dog and will it be as effective as the vet perscribed medication? I know it will sure safe me alot of money. Any suggestions?
my mixed breed dog had tapeworms as a puppy, but it's been a long time ago and we got the meds from the vet's office. I have no idea on how or whether the petsmart stuff works. I guess if the active ingredient is the same in the vet's stuff, it'd be up to you as far as trying it. It will either work or it won't.
I don't know about this medication, but are you using Advantage or Frontline to keep the fleas off? Tapeworms are often caused by a dog ingesting a flea. Prevention may help cut down on vet bills. In the meantime, I would ask your vet about the Petsmart meds.
Hi i use d-worm by farnam pet products tblets it works like a charm it costs 20.00 for 10pills.Can be purchased at Red bird,Soldans, petsmart ect... Also I would recomend treating all the dogs at once and clean up the area after they iliminate for they can just as easily get reinfested.and you need to treat 1time monthly until there are no signs of tape worms. I hope this helps good luck.
