Has anyone noticed how the brown, round-shaped pedigree (Meaty Crunchy Bites - For Adults) kibbles have tiny dark hair/fur sticking out of them or are packed in them? I've noticed it recently and today I noticed a long hair (about 1.5 cm) sticking out of one of the kibbles! All of those round ones seem to have these hairy thingys in them.... The ones sticking out can be pulled out from the kibble though. I would be grateful if someone can tell me what they are... it doesn't seem very appetizing...
When i wen tto puppy classs with my dog they had us put our dog food in a bowl of water over night and in the morning see if there is any hairs on the top of the water and if there is there have been rats or somthing i cant really remember the rest but it means somthing about rats rats rats ew i would change my dogs food
Am I the only one having tiny hair sticking out of kibbles? Can anyone with pedigree dry food check if yours have it also? you'll have to hold the kibble under enough light... then examine~ My dog has been on pedigree for a few months now and he has a hard time trying to switch to other food. might the hair come from the chicken by-products? ...man i've just bought a MASSIVE bag of it not too long ago~~
I suppose the hair like fragments could actually be gristle. As we've said, you just wont be able to tell if you don't take it to have it analyzed. If you really are concerned, take the food kibble and the bag back to the store you got it from and tell them what you found, then start your dog on a new food.
OK, you're right. I got my hands on some pedigree last night and there are tiny little hairs sticking out of the kibble. It's pretty gross. I don't think that it has anything to do with the recall though, which was for mold. Pedigree is just a feed grade dog food vs. higher quality humane grade.
