Im getting a new pom tommorow. I was supposed to get him friday, but it didnt work out. anyway....I have never owned a pomeranian before. I did all the reasearch on the breed. I have a general idea of what they are like. But I want to hear from real people and there experiences with poms. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch! :o)
I've never owned a pom, but my cousins have had 3. The first, Roxy, is a rescue dog. She used to be very active, always into the trashcans and playing.. now (she is 10) she is very mellow and calm, doesn't like to be bothered. Their 2nd pom Star (Rest in peace), was the calmest baby from the time she was a puppy. She loved to be hugged and cuddled and held all day. You could pet her all night and it wouldn't be enough. She had a way of starring at you that just melted your heart. Now their 3rd, Angel Star, is a little devil. She never stops barking and playing and jumping and running around....
Hi! I have a five month old pom named Gus. He is chocolate colored which I found out is kind of a rare color. He is the cutest thing in the world! He's very cuddly and loves to play. The only negative thing about him so far is that he is very hard to potty-train. We still have not gotten him potty-trained. We're trying our best but not having much luck. Anyway, other than the potty-training he is a great dog and I would definately recommend a pom to anyone.
With the small breeds they usually can't hold their bladder early on for long periods. 5 months is you still. My 9 month old mini poodle is on her way to being potty trained, she has not pee peed in the house for about two months, but she has pooped. But no biggy, as long as no one steps in it its easier to pick up than pee. Try hanging bells at the door she goes out to do her business, show them to her put her feet up to the bells, she her what to do. Mine rings the bells. Just lately on occasion she forgets. But it will happen. Congrats on the new pom pup, my neighbor adopted one from my other neighbor, she did not have time for him, he used to chase cars and bikes down the street.
