Lane has recently been furiously digging in blankets. Last night she dug and dug and dug into a comforter on the floor. Tonight she went into her crate all by herself and went to town digging in the blankets. I tried to distract her with other stuff and gave her attention, but she ran right back into the crate do dig some more. Why does she do this....should I stop her??
our lab pup does the same thing! it's hillarious cause it really seems like she is under the impression that she's going actually get somewhere:) I have heard that it's just instinctual and that you can train them not to do it. I kind of enjoy watching her do it tho:-p I hope it's not bad for her!
Sometimes they like to paw the blankets up to make them cumfy, I let my dogs do that but I would stop them from madly digging on anything that you dont want them to possibly tear or scratch up.
When we took Mazel on an airplane for the first time she tried to dig her way back down to earth. I guess she knew that she was high up and wanted to get lower down and the only way she could think of was to dig and dig and dig.
What Icy said. My doberman does that to his crate all the time. He also does that before he sits down on the couch, he would circle around a few times, then digs at it for a few sec before he plops down.
