Well I got an email from the breeder of my future Newf puppy detailing what all happened on Monday that lead to the loss of 6 of the 9 puppies in the litter. What it boils down to is this, the puppies were dead before they even did the c-sectin. They don't know why, they took every care they could have with her. She and the remaining 3 puppies are doing fine so far, let's hope it remains so. If anyone wants details, drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
That's SO sad. I feel SO sorry for the breeders. They must be devastated. Sometimes...even though you do everything possible right, things do not turn out as planned. Are you heart-broken Mini ? Does this put you even further out for your pup ?
I am more heartbroken for hte sake of the owner who I know did her best to make sure everything went right than I am for myself. Yes, it will be a longer wait until we can get our puppy but I'm fine wtih that, it gives us more time to prepare ourselves and our household. I can't imagine how the breeder must feel, I feel horrible and they weren't even my dogs, you know?
I DO know. I feel very bad for the breeder. Looking at their website, you can tell how much love for Newfies they have, how particular they are, how seriously they take their dogs, and how very very careful they are. They obviously spare no time or expense in trying to produce "better" dogs. Something like that can take the wind right out of your sails, and leave you wondering 'what else could I have done'. Especially when there was no answer to what DID go wrong. My heart goes out to them...and you too because though you have a really good attitude about it, I know you must be a little disapointed. I'm sorry :( I KNOW though, when you do get your puppy...it will have been worth the wait.
