hi, i have a 5 month old mixed breed puppy. he is lab/sheperd, i think. well, he is not a breed that drools, so i was concerned because this morning he had drool hanging down his mouth. i wiped it off and checked his teeth. they seemed fine, he is just loosing some of his baby teeth. well, there was an awful breath odor that he has never had. is this normal? he has never drooled before, so i thought it was kind of out of the ordinary for him.
Sometimes when a dog is teething they will drool a little more than normal (like babies I suppose). But sometimes if they get into something and eat it, that may cause them to drool as well. If he's not showing any other behavior problems or acting weird outside of the drooling, I wouldnt' be too concerned. If he starts acting lethargic and doesn'tw ant to get up or something, call your vet.
Bad mouth or breath odor could mean any number of things. Dirty teeth, an abcess, or something bad that was ingested. I suggest that, to be on the safe side, you take your puppy to the vet. Especially if your puppy is drooling, and drooling is not normal for your puppy.
