I have a 1.5 year old pom and for the past few days she has been eating dirt klods (spelling???). About 4 days ago she started eating anything green like grass, plants, weeds etc... Now when I come home at night she will put her head on my shoulder and will not lift her head, she falls asleep and dosent want to open her eyes. It is like she is a new born baby her head will bob around. She will even nuzzle up to my boyfriend when I am not home and will not leave his side. When we go on walks she will walk behiend us and some times we have to pick her up and hold her till we can get her home. I don't know if she is sick but she will not even eat a puppy treat. She just wants grass or dirt...The strange thing is she will go to bed at 10pm will not move all night and when we get up she is running around I don't know what to do. Please Help
If one of my babies had symptoms like you are discribing, I would have them at the vets yesterday. For a puppy to not move and be that lestless would scare me half to death. How long has it not eaten anything but dirt and grass?
By all means take her to the vet asap and also take a stool sample with you. I don't know if your dog is drooling alot too but mine did this just about a week ago and I noticed it at night and my husband and I tried to figure it out and we had a few ideas but the next morning when we took him out of his cage he was still drooling (so much for our ideas) so I call our Vet and they said that dogs will drool if they are nauseated or if they are car sick, they also said eating grass can upset their stomachs and that we should watch for a few days and if still drooling make an appointment. I know how upset I was about this wondering what was wrong but after talking with the Vet I was fine and we did watch for a few days and Cody was over it by the next morning. I have never had a dog drool like that before but I learned something new that day. Hope all ends well for you and your dog.
I think its time for a check up?!, (why do people wait?) Any way, you failed to mention the important things like is the dog haveing Bowel movements, soft or firm. Is there any vomiting? Is he eating and drinking. Is he dyhdrated. How do his gums look.
