you can call him anything you want, but when you complete an AKC show registration it is best to fill in his name as it appears on his registration. AKC told me if dog's name, owners name, registration number, parents names and breeders name are not exactly as they appear on his registration it is possible any points earned may not get recorded to the dog.
This came about as I purchased a dog and his transfer papers did not clear the AKC's express processing line. They told me I had to register him for a show in the previous owners name or his points may not get credited to him.
I had no idea what the full name was for on the AKC. But i put Ro-Jon's (breeder) Logan von Frodo. I put Frodo because when he got him, his paws were covered in fur that was growing on the inside of his feet.....his paws were so big and furry that he looked like a hobbit, we couldnt even see the pads on his feet, just long fur.
My Golden Retriever, Kelsey's AKC name is HEATHER'S MERRY MAIDEN GOLD. My Parson Russell Terrier, Jackson's AKC name isn't offcial yet (it's a long story) but I would like to name him RIVER GLENN ACTION JACKSON, river glenn is the kennel name that he came from.
