I was babysitting a friend's dog when he passed away from a sudden heart attack. The dog is now ours. Warrior is his name.
We thought he was some type of minipin or doberman but I have now been told he is a Manchester Terrier. He is incredibly smart and loving and has been through a ton of loss. He loved my Chi that I just lost to a C Section.
I do not even know how old he is. I have an appt at the local vet for him tomorrow to update his shots. He was well taken care of before his owner passed away. We just have no way of finding out much about him.
I am really enjoying him. Anyone have one or know much about them? He needs to be fixed also.
Your vet will be able to tell you his approx. age when you go there. Why not go to the library or book store and get some books on the breed? Or do a google search online? You'll find tons of info that way. Have fun!
Back years ago we had a little, what they called a toy manchester. I don't know if that is a breed (toy) or not. He weighed probably about 7or 8lbs. The only thing I can tell you that I remember is he was very smart. He was more stocker built than a chi, but a darling little dog. The females out of that litter were more petite. He looked like a little miniture doberman.
We went to Dr Nixon today. Warrior is about 3 years old, in very good health, negative for heartworms. He said he looks like a Manchester Terrior. He got all his shots and isscheduled for neutering. He says they make great family pets.
Thanks for your imput everyone.
I also had a chance to talk to this Vet about the tragic incident of my Chi dying after surgery. He was distressed and explained to me how it could happen and that he once lost a cat before a spaying. He was kind and was sorry about it. I appreciate the time he took with me. I wish the vet would have at least called me and said sorry. A simple phone call would have made me feel differently about the situation. Thanks for listening. BH
