we have a dog park not to far from us, it has two pens, one for large dogs and one for small dogs. Today in our newspaper it stated some rules and one said "No Presa Canarios". I have not heard of this breed before but I kinda get the impression they are on the mean side and perhaps Cody shouldn't try to tangle with one! Cody is a Bichon/Westie mix and weighs 16 lbs. Anyone have a picture of a Presa Canarios? I'm just curious and want to know more about this breed. I enjoy learning. Thanks
gorgeous dogs- related to pitbulls I think. My friend is currently shopping for one. They are kind of rare and the breeders want a fortune for them. I just hope he's getting one for the right reasons and not because he thinks it'll be a bad a-- dog.
Presas are beautiful dogs and I'm really fond of them. Being a bully type breed though, they can be dog aggressive and not a breed I would recommend for the dog park. They are a large breed (80-100+ pounds I believe) and I have had a couple go through rescue that were wonderful (just too much dog for the average person.)
I will say that Presas got a lot of bad press a few years ago in the murder case of Diane Whipple (CA) the two dogs that killed her were Presa mixes and ever since, the press has put alot of fear into people about the breed. The two dogs that killed her were "protection trained" by some skinhead idiots at home from a book and the dogs were known to be unstable. Another case of poor qulaity dogs trained innapropriately and owned by someone who had no business owning a poodle let alone a Presa mix..... judge the deed not the breed!
