I have a cat and he is about five years old. I switched his cat food gradually over about two weeks. He has been eating only the new now for about a month now. He was previously eating whiskas, but I wanted to give him a better diet. He also a gained alot of weight while eating whiskas. I put him on the chicken soup for thecat lover's soul that is available at a local feed store. He lost alot of weight! He looks better, but i noticed recently that he has not been wanting to eat it. I do not know why? any suggestions? he has been wanting to go outside alot more know, since he lost weight. I guess he feels better. He also is starting toeat the dog food that is outside, but not his. He has not ate his cat food now for about a week. Is it possible that he is just being finicky, he was doing fine a couple of weeks ago? Or, maybe he just is not hungry enough?
Cats are notoriously picky eaters. And when you change from a lower quality food to a high quality food like you have, they don't need to eat as much anyway, the food is easier to digest so they get more nutrients out of it. I personally don't recommend swapping to a lot of different kinds of food or you will have a bigger problem and an even pickier eater IMHO. If he's hungry, he'll eat.
My cats did that, too. I ran out of canned food, and I had had to give them just dry food (I usually mix it), and when I'd feed them, they looked really offended. But I'd notice that by the end of the day, the food was gone. xoxo, Dorothie
