I've introduced several different dry foods for my dog and he doesn't seem to be very interested in any of them. The Kibbles 'n Bits seem more appetizing. Has anyone tried it or has got information about this food that I should know of? Is it a 'cheap' brand? I'm thinking of mixing this and another more well known dry food in case it doesn't get all the nutritions. This way he might start eating more again! However, is it considered a dry food or semi-moist? It says that it's got both crunchy bites and soft, chwey bites.
Check out the previous posts on this at http://www.terrificpets.com/forum/1824.asp Also, ellasmom has some good links to sites that have some things you want to look out for when you are looking for a kibble. Also, if you look at the chart on the bottom of one of her posts on the third page ( http://www.doggonepositive.com/dogeatdog.htm ) kibbles n bits seems to be pretty questionable. Also, mentioned in the post is the barf diet. If you decide to go that route, you should do a lot of research before hand. Sometimes, its an allergic or tolerance issue to a specific food. I've seen some dogs have problems with chicken so the owners switched to a kibble that was based on lamb. Here is a link with some excellent kibble, recommended by a dog nutritionist: http://www.greatdanelady.com/articles/adult_feeding_program.htm I would also add Chicken soup. I've seen some people post that when she made that list, Chicken soup wasn't on the market. On the dane site I goto frequently, the owners rave about this kibble. Here is a link where you can find your neares dealer and ingredients. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the premium kibbles, it maybe just a question of testing each and seeing which one your dog takes to. Good luck! Oh, you might want to take him to the vet as his loss of appetite maybe due to something physical other than food preference.
kibbles and bits is imo a junk food. like eating ring dings as your main diet. there are amny better foods out there. but hey when i was younger my family german shepherd was fed gaines burgers, which was like the equivalent of playdoh. he lived to be 11 yrs old with no health problems. but knowing a bit more about nutrition now i wouldn't feed that to any dog. if that is all he will eat then supplement his food with a doggie vitamin so he is getting everything he needs.
Kibbles n bits is not a good dog food. My friend feeds his 2 boxers that food. I have tried to tell him over and over again that there are other foods out there far better than that food. If you can't afford a a high quality dog food, there are other foods out there better than Kibbles n Bits. I feed Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul. Its a little pricey but I know my dogs are eating well.
