Hello, this is my first time here. Does anyone know of a GSD rescue group in the northeast Nebraska area? I am close to Iowa and South Dakota.
My GSD died after a botched spay job and I would like to get another. My husband and I are home 24/7 and we have a 6 foot chainlink fence around the backyard, a kennel, crates, etc. I can not afford the $500 and up prices I am being quoted for a dog. Thanks, Brenda
Im sorry about the GSD botched spay...But in all honesty most rescues cost over 300 to adopt a dog...I would say petfinder also but they wont be free either...I would say just keep your eyes open and you might be able to find something...But if you cant afford much it might be hard...Im sorry and not trying to be critical...It is just the facts about adoption. Well..unless you get from a person and they dont ask too much ...but rescues will make sure that you can afford vet care and shots and licencing and all...so...just a heads up...Good Luck to you
AHHH. my neck of the woods! I have found in this area, their are not many rescues or shelters-just pounds. Depending on your actual location, you could call Puppy Love in Norfolk and have them watch for you a German Shepard. I had a super one years ago and we've since had to put him down, but had a puppy dumped here at that time. I know from watching the pictures come in from the pound, that there is a good chance that a mix or even a purebred may come in. I do also see them in local papers for giveaway pretty frequently as people do not realize the room they like to have. Sioux City, IA has a nice shelter from what I understand, I have never been there, but a group who was intersted in a shelter in this area visited there and I heard good remarks. I also see them advertised on a regular basis in the MIdwest Messenger-that is where we found ours. He was not nearly that pricey.
