Scout1, I think I'm going to give up the beautiful Tibetan Mastiff desire and instead, I'm going to go for a little rescue. I've been thinking about it a lot and as much as I would love to have that magnificent dog, I can't stop thinking about the little guys in the shelter here.
cecile i see on that link that there are 2 pyrs up for adoption. many of the lgd's have very similiar temperaments. if the temp. of the tibetan mastiff struck you, you would probably be very happy with a pyrenees.
Hubby and I are going to look and see... I have a problem with shelters - I want to take everyone home! In 2001, I went to a shelter to save just ONE, and left with two!! So, we'll see for sure... I think they're closed today, so we'll probably wait for this weekend. Before we choose any of them, we're going to see how their temperaments are - one of the clinics that hold adoptable pets for Rescue the Animals is very good at putting the dogs in quarantine for 2 weeks while testing them for any illnesses before putting them up for adoption. That same clinic also lets you play with the dogs so that you can see how they are with you. It's a good place to adopt - that's where I got Sassy.
P.s., those pyrs are beautiful!!
