Hi my dog Gunner passed away on Sunday and we decided to have him cremated. He gets done by himself and we get him back with a certificate and in an urn.We live in Canada and it cost us 165.00.Hope this helps
Yes we had our dog Alphie creamated after he was ran over. It was around 100 bucks or so. I dont remember totally because I was pregnant and someone else took care of those details!!!!! It was so sad !!!
Not to sound morbid or overly sceptical but i have often wondered how legitamite private cremation is. Do you know if the process is regulated in any way. How do you know that you are actually getting your pet and only your pet's ashes back? When my pets go, we will probubly do a private cremation but i have always wondered how it is carried out. Is it possible to take your pets remains in yourself and have the process carried out in your presence.
Also, have any of you ever donated your pet's remains to science or would you ever consider doing so?
I had to have two dogs put to sleep in a period of six months. My vet charged accoridng to the weight of the dogs. Both dogs were over 80 pounds, and it was $152 for each for the injection annd cremation. If I wanted a to have the dog cremated alone and have the ashes retuned, it would have been twice as much at the very least. As much as I wished I could have kept their ahes, I just couldn't afford that much money.
I don't think it's possible to stay when the pet is cremated as it's not crremated in a vet's office and the body is held in a freezer until it's is picked by a crematory. Sory to sound so morbid.

Sorry to say, yes, there are other animals there, too. That's why it cost more to get the ahes returned. They have to do an individual cremation.
My first dog was individually cremated and I do haver her ahes in an urn that I keep near the head of my bed because that's where she loved to lseep. I told my husband that when I die, I want her ahes buried with me. Many people hink I'm crazy when I tell them that.
My roomate's father is a vet. If you don't want the ashes back, they will be sent off for group cremation. If you would like your pet returned the oven is cleaned out, and your pet is cremated seperately so you can have your own pet back. I'm sure there are unscrupulous places out there, but this is how it is supposed to happen.
