I recently switched to Canidae because Scruff's car sickness wouldn't go away. I heard someone say in the testimonials that it helped their dog with the same problem, so I'll see what happens after a few weeks.
Now, how do you pronounce this? I've had a few people ask me what I'm feeding him, and I'm like "Kannedy?" "Kennedy?" "Canideye?" "I don't know what it's called! Leave me alone."
Also, does anyone know of a cheap place to get it online? I got mine from Pet Food Direct .com, 40 lbs. for $46 including shipping.
I buy it at Pets Supply Plus. Petsmart doesn't carry it. I pay 35.00 for a 40lb bag. I buy my Evo there too. It is 45.00 for a 28.6lb bag. All of my family is in Va so when I go home to visit I always pick up a load when I am there from Carealot. Here is the website for them.
Yeah Canidae isn't one of the cheaper 'premium' foods. They also are a 'one size fits all' dog food brand. There's no puppy formula. Just normal and senior diets. If your dog needs more protein because it's a growing dog then their philosophy is 'feed it more food'.
Some dogs do wonderfully on Canidae, but Bowen wasn't one of them. Ramoth looked iffy on their food as well, and it was hard to find in my area without driving a lonnnnng way.
Mine was gasy and had loose stools on chicken soup. Innova I think is better that C.S. mine did great on that. Tear staining on my poo occured though. Its not a big issue but when you have to look at your dogs face with that on it, I had to change. Innova did clear up my poodles digestion problems though, and my terriers itchy skin. Currently we are trying out Artemis Ho;istic brand kibble. Hormone free.
I have used Chicken Soup as well and it is good food. The only problem I had with it was the salt content. It is really high. It wouldn't have created a problem if all of my dogs were not indoor dogs. The salt would increase their drinking of water which of course would make them go potty more. I also had loose stools on the Chicken Soup. The only reason I feed Canidae is because I can't afford to feed straight Evo. I feed 18lbs of food a day and with Evo being around 50 bucks for 30 pounds I wouldn't be able to feed myself. If Evo were cheaper it would be my food of choice and the only food I would feed. It is one of the only kibbles out there that comes close to raw feeding.
