Hey guys. I was looking through some of the other posts, and I've seen a couple resonses from this guy, soglover44., and none of his answers were helpful. Mostly, he's trying to promote his web site. I doubt he's going to answer Fin's question because I don't think he knows the answer. I admit that I have no idea what the answer is either.
LOL @ cricketmom

Oh well. I guess he doesn't know the answer. Somehow I knew that, though.
As far as what colors should not be bred together, harls can be bred to other harls. Yes, you run the risk of having a double merle, like my Hush, but experienced breeders who have researched specific lineages do breed harl to harl.
A mantle should never be bred to a black.
A merle should never be bred to another merle.
A harl can be bred with another harl, a black, and a mantle.
Fawns should only be bred to other fawns and brindles, although some experienced breeders will breed a fawn to a black.
Blues should only be bred to other blues or blacks.
Pie-Bald Danes should never be bred to anything.
And of course you should never breed a mis-mark. I.E. fawnequin.
Some breeders do breed deafies as the deafness is not genetic.
Of course there are exceptions to every rule, so yes, there is such a thing as a hyper Dane. BUT. Us Dane owners call them "zoomies". Zoomies are when your Dane decides to run full throttle at Mach 900 speed for no appearent reason and does laps. This lasts about a minute or 2. Thats about as hyper as a Dane gets, lol!
Danes are good on long distance walks providing they are 2 or OLDER. Their growth plates have closed by then.
Danes are VERY, VERY laid back. Very tolerant, very calm. Great with kids, people, other animals. I could really go on and on and on about Danes, so I'll stop now, lol!
i didnt realize what beautiful dogs they are. i have never seen the mantle before. the one in the pic sir bronson is gorgeous.he reminds me of the dane, brutus, in the disney movie the ugly dachsund. they look like they would be a friendly breed.
