I just came home from work and my puppy is vomiting everywhere..I dont think she could have gotten into anything..she is pretty much just throwing up saliva..but my stepmother just told me she gave the pup pepto bismol to stop her from vomiting...is that bad for dogs? Any suggestions?
what's in the vomit? How old is the puppy? Has he been vaccinated and how many times and when? Is it just watery yellowish bile? How often do you feed yoru puppy and when was the last time he ate? Has he had any BMs? Were they normal or diarrhea?
It's clear saliva...and she was just in the kitchen with a bowl of food but I wouldn't doubt that she didn't eat..I cant seem to find a food that pleases her besides wet food which gives her diarreah..Her last BM was this morning..it was really gross...liquid brown..I am really scared is she ok? She is a couple months Im not sure exactly how old..I feed her 2 times a day.

Ok I just tried to feed her she wont touch her food. I have another dog who i feed dry food mixed with wet food, should I try to give her the wet food? I usually don't because she gets diarreah really bad..
if she has diarrhea in conjunction with the vomitting I'd definitely take her to the vet's office. YOu haven't mentioned if she has been vaccinated, puppies are succeptible to a wide variety of viruses, diseases and parasites.
I'm confused. Did she eat the bowl of food or not eat the food? Forget that question. You answred it :-)
If she's only a couple of months old, I would feed her more often. My four month puppy eats 3 times a day. Do have idea what mix she is? I know she's small now, but is she going to stay small? How long have you had her?
I do agree with Minnevar too. You should definitely call and take her to yhe vet.

She's a PomChi..I just got her maybe a month or so ago..she hasn't been vaccinated but we have an appointment for her. I try to feed her three times a day but she's a very picky eater..I also got a male pomchi when i got her but he's fine and he eats normally...What I did to feed her when she really wouldn't eat was take a can of wet food and pour the gravy over her dry food but i was told that its not healthy..Im running out of options and foods to try..and her stomach keeps growling and she just wont eat.

The thing is..the vet I take my other dog to is a real jerk, they won't let us in without an appointment and they just are really mean Im trying to find another vet for my dogs but so far none take walk in appointments..im just trying to figure out something to do with her temporarily..I have cans of wet pedigree for adult dogs, maybe give her one of those?
That's the thing , the appointments not today and im worried about her ..right now she's sleeping on my lap but her stomach is going crazy and she gets up constantly to try to vomit..sometimes nothing comes out. Should I give her the wet food?...Uh oh..I've been reading a website and it says if you give a dog pepto bismol..its one tablespoon per 40lbs..my puppys not nearly 40lbs and I gave her almost a tablespoon..woops

If this pup has not had it's vaccinations, I would definitely get it to a vet ASAP... if it has something like Parvo, etc. you are working with a small window of opportunity to catch it before it's too far along to treat successfully. Puppies can die in a matter of days without treatment. Diarrhea and vomiting can really dehydrate them fast... since your pup is not eating, I would at least make sure to have it drink Pedialyte or Gatorade (something with electrolytes to keep them hydrated) and maybe a chicken or beef broth, and keep looking for a vet. Most vets, if you explain the urgency, will fit you in somehow. If not, there is most likely an emergency clinic somewhere near you... it's a bit more pricey, but it could save your pups life.
Awww, poor baby. Keep trying to find a vet who will see her today, or call the vet you already have appointment with, and tell them it's an emergency and you need to bring her in TODAY and if they tell you theyat you still can't, ask them who you can taker her to that will se her today. Maybe if your stempmom calls, they may be more willing to listen to her.

I dont have any pedialyte or anything like that but I know someone who works at a pet store and they have liquid with electrolytes in it I will get some of that for her. I think it could be her food, i switch her often because its hard to find something she likes, now she is on beneful for puppies but she has lost her interest for it, any suggestions of a healthy food that dogs like?

I know Minnevar and a lot of the others here are quite knowleable when it comes to dog food. I don't think it's good to keep changing dog foods and this could be one of the reasons she becoming such a fussy eater. I've always fed Science Diet and my dogs always liked it, but I know many of the others have other preferances when it comes to dog food. My dog doesn't eat any canned and only eats dry gfood, and I kind of like it that way.
I want to keep her on dry food, is science diet for a specific breed or just for a specific size dog? Its hard to find a healthy food that she will like, I dont want to put her on wet but in the same sense i dont want to starve her.
no, Science Diet is not breed or size specific, aslthough it does come in smaller bite sizes for smaller dogs, as well as puppy , adult and older dog forumulas.
I understand your concern about not wanting to starve her. A dog will eventually eat when it gets hungry enough and will not stave itself to death, but since your puppy is sick, I would give in and give her he the canned for now. You may have a harder time breaking her from it, but right now, it's more important that she eat comething.
