I was looking up some pit bull breeders and came across this website. This guy has a page called "Protection Dogs" and it shows pictures of him training his pits/rotties/germans to 'protect' people. Not sure if I can show the link or not, but the pictures are pretty scary actually. The dogs look evil and they are jumping up on people and biting them (the people have protection though). This doesn't seem right to me... and he doesn't seem like the kind of person that should be breeding these types of dogs. Is there anyone to report him to?
thelifeofrilley. paste the page, i train protection dogs. no you can't report until the dog attacks someone ( who didn't want to be attacked). the man mentoring me on training has trained two rotties to a national championship. I train in a sport called schutzhund. the to rotties are now retired from formal competetion. but the dogs are very social and sweet. i know it is hard to understand. the dogs have never bitten out of aggression. now this is not to say there are not people out there using unethical practises and training dogs to be aggressive. do not mistake a protection dog with an aggressive dog. Malinois are one of the most popular dogs in the sport. pitts and rotties are not allowed to compete at the world level. i do not know why but the sanctioning bodies do not recongize the dogs. back to mals. I own one. this dog lead me to find the sport. i am getting another one from sporting lines. I was horrified when i seen this to. but i did not jump to conclusions i was impressed with the obedience and the happiness of the dogs. so i stuck around and asked questions. the dogs were sweet, social, acted like normal pets in public, visiteddog parks. the dogs i train with are not blood thirsty killers or aggressive. they are trained from a puppy to play an exageratted game of tug-of-war. I am now one of the helpers (the guy who gets bit) i have never been bit on my skin. nor has dog attacked me without being told to. i can even pet the dogs while they are biting the sleeve, play with them, praise them. for the dogs i train with the sleeve is just another toy to them. check out templeofthetree.com. under my dogs ann is the mother of my pup to be. and bico is the father. yoland and anzio are the rotts i spoke of. all the dogs are treated much better than most pets i know. and actually are much more even tempered than most pets i know. a protection dog is hard to find only about 10% of the dogs out there are brave enough, driven enough to do this. scared dogs do not do well. they are extremely hard to train. friendly dogs are what you want. a dog that is not afraid. i don't mean a friendly dog and make it mean. i know it is hard to understand. but the training for these dogs is quite in depth and there no short-cuts. a dog that is beaten will not do well. i was amazed when i finally met the dogs on how friendly they were. i have been hooked on schutzhund ever since. i attend a club three days a week to learn on how to be a good trainer.

lifeofriley- this dog's name is atim. atim is 7.5, missing one toe. he competes in a sport called french ring. now the thing that freaks most people out here is the jug at the end. they are not hurting the dog. that would mess the dog up and make him fearful. they are just seeing if he has a solid nerve. atim is a champion, a very extremly social dog he is what is called a kuron 3 dog. it is the highest level of breeding standards in working dogs. there are only about 4 dogs in the world right now with this breeding cert. they are the total dog. perfect health, perfect working drive, perfect temperment. he is also the father of chomsky on the templeofthetree.com . great dog. would lick till you pee'd your pants. look at his tail while he is biting. happy as a clam. and that is not happy cause he is being aggressive. he is happy cause he's got his toy. it is no different than a dog who is happy has got his ball. there are ways to make a dog bite for real, these practises are used by k-9 patrol officers and such. i have not personally met anyone who trains there dogs for "real protection" all these people are professional dog handlers. and they do care if thier dog would "really bite someone. they explained to me that my mal, whom is scared is about 10 times more likely to "realy" bite someone. because he is nervous and feels like he needs to defend himself. these dogs are not nervous. also, all dogs know how to bite. these dogs have just been taught that it is okay to bite a sleeve. but not skin, the dogs are not allowed to bite skin. as puppies it is premitted but when the get a little bigger they direct it all to the sleeve.
okay i took a look at the website, I have no way of telling if the dogs are good or not. the protection sport world is a small one. i have never heard of jerry. so, he may be a hack he may not be. just like everywhere else in the dog world. there are people doing things ethicaly and people doing things in ethicaly. this guy is obvously a tough guy. the site seemed very ghetto. and i am also a bit suspicious on his methods and reasons for this. if you care to know more. schutzhund has a very strcit and regimeted obedience phase and also a tracking phase. so the dog must be obedient and be able to follow a scent. some of the people handling the dogs. look like they have absolutley no control and some of the dogs are to young to be on a sleeve, it is going to hurt there mouth and they are not going to want to bite. I assure you this can be done humanley, ethicaly and most of all safely. i would never purchase, and train a dog to do this, if i thought it was morale wrong. again i had the same thoughts and feelings. i can express how grateful i am to have found danny craig. he is the man helping me and the dienthshund schutzhund club. it has opened my training world up. danny has trained 4 dogs to compete nationaly all, with reward training and absolutley no pain was put on the dogs to make them comply. now jerry's site is not a good example. also checkout schutzhund usa. also the dog on the first page at the top on the right is a malinois. if you did not know. beautiful, extremely sweet and loyal dogs. with the drive of a border collie on meth.
we sent my male to training school for obd. and the trainer trains police dogs as well as protection dogs. my male will protect ME. he would roll over and lookat the trainer when someone "came" at him. my husband was out of town for weeks and he wanted me to be protected, BUT as loong as "momie" is safe- everyone is safe. he is also very loving and protective of children. if a dog is trained "RIGHT" then it is actually a very controled and exciting show IMO
