My cat likes a little drink of milk every once in awhile. My Mom insists that milk is not good for cats. Is she right? My Moms cat had its leg removed and is home recovering. He can walk. He sure hates that plastic thing around his neck so he can't lick his stiches.
David, your cat cannot digest the proteins in cow's milk very well, even though many cats love cow's milk. If you want to give your cat a treat, go to PetSmart and buy a milk substitute product for your cat. Not all cats like this "Cat's Milk," but is much better for your cat than cow's milk.
You're not really suppose to give cats milk. My in laws however, they give their barn cats milk all the time. Usually when they have a bowl of cereal or something that would require milk and don't drink it all. They just pour it in the cat bowl outside and the cats come running, lol. Runny stools aren't really a big thing to them because they are on a farm and the cats never come inside. Most of the cats are strays that just wandered in and hang around and catch the mice. It's funny because they complain about all these cats all the time, and I'm always like, 'Well, maybe its because you give them scrapes and milk, so they hang around' lol.
Yeah, it's funny. I won't give my inside cats milk, since I have heard it's not good for their tummies. But my barn cats get it. If I have a bowl of cereal (and I hate milk), so I hate to waist it and I take it outside and give to the barn kitties. They love it and I have no idea if it makes their stool runny.
