Is there anyway to tell how big a puppy will be full grown? My puppy is 512 wks, and weighs 6 lbs 10oz. She is a boxer/hound/shepard mix. Is this large for her age? She was also the smallest, and last in the litter.
Technically , I don't think so. An uneducated guess would be somwhere between the size of those two breeds. I once had a dog that weighed 3 1/2 pounds when she was six weeks old, and the vet said that wouldn't get too big. At her highest weight, she was 102 pounds. Her mother was a pit bull and her daddy wa a lab. Her paws and ears kind of grew large overnight .. lol.
Never believe the vet. His guess is as good as yours. Mine tol me my dog would only be 20 or 30 pounds. 30 pounds came and went, and he said that she wouldn't get much bigger ... 40-50 pounds tops. She surprised us all ay 102 pounds ... LOL.
She turned out to to be the best dog I ever had and was extremely well behaved. I could do anything in the world to her. When she would see the nail clippers in my hand, she would lay down in front of the sliding glas doors and let mt cut her nails. She would ever so gently take treats out of my mouth without even toching my lips. She's been gone a long ime now, and I kept her ashes. There will nver be another dog like Brandy and I still miss all these years later. Sigh.
Did you see the parents personally? Thats the best way to estimate, not all people who have pups are raising dogs that fit their breed standard, in most cases unless its a show person, large breeds are smaller than norm and toy breeds are larger, sometimes the size of the feet can give you an idea.
