pitt bulls have been given the stereotype of a muscle infested monster who is thirsty for blood. despite all of the news worthy pitbull attacks, most dogs involved are described only to be ípit bull, most being pit-shepard mix, staffordshire, or pit-lab mixes even boxer pit mixed which is what i had. although many people believe pitbulls are bred for fighting by incompitant owners if you look back into pitbull history pitbull terriers were bred and rebred to fight as sport in the 1800's. fighting and aggression, it is encoded in their dna. rebred because the original "pitbull" wasn't aggressive enough. it is also said that pitbulls donít feel pain, such as being hit while attacking and not stopping the attack. the reason for this is that pitbulls were trained to ignore any pain or discomfort during a dog fight, to win the game. dogs that proved they were capable of doing this were the ones that were bred into bloodlines to make the perfect fighting dog. most people wrongfully acuse pit bulls; stereotype them ALL as the same vicious, dangerous dog even though 5 other breeds are proven to bite more often than pit bulls and take no consideration on how the dog was raised and or treated. i am all about stopping vicious dog attacks, pitbull or otherwise, and punishing those owners to the fullest extent of the law who allow such vicious animals to roam free and harm people and other animals. but to all of those who want to eliminate the entire breed without any such consideration i say who are the blood thirsty monsters now?
