i have a pug but he does not scratch. just farts. seriously, any dog can have allergies and scratching is a symptom. i give benadryl to my lab for allergies and it takes care of it. it could be environmental like people, or something in his food. what do you feed him? dogs can be allergic to corn, wheat, meats, lots of stuff in food. flax seed oil capsules also help with skin itching. i can only give my pug one 2-3 times per week or the runs happen. maybe a call to the vet is in order.
Mine has been scratching more than normal lately, though I haven't found any fleas on her. I'm not sure what's causing it. I do know you can give benedryl for itching. Its usually pretty effective. Sometimes they get seasonal allergies caused by changes in the environment. I hope that this is the case and you don't have to battle it year round! Good luck!
We arise Pugs, this can be a common problem, only one of ours has problems, but not the typical.....she only scratches, redness, and some hair loss, when she has had a litter of pups and they are weaning, as soon as the milk starts to dry up, it starts.......We use Neosporin for any red areas, she gets Vit E added to her food and any balding , and a sulfur based medicated shampoo.....she clears up in a few weeks.....hers is hormonal
