I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, so am not too far from Alpena. I would think about 4 hours, if my estimation is correct. Do you have friends in Alpena, Rhondakbt? I'm 2 1/2 hours from the Mackinac Bridge, and although I've never been to Alpena, I believe they are about an hour and a half from there.
Yes, I do live in the same area as PJ, but don't know the woman. I didn't realize that someone here in town had all of those exotic pets, and so many dogs in one household. I know the limit here in Escanaba is 4 pets per house and the way she was talking, she had upwards to 8 or more? I did offer to take pictures of her pets, but don't know if she took me up on the offer, since she left the group before I got to check the message again.
Anyway, it is hot as Texas up here today and now I must go to work. Just got off work at 3am this morning. Yikes, these hours are going kill me.
Puppies are doing fine, the 2 little girls are both in the living room playing with their parents. The little boy puppy must be in the kitchen, probably looking for something to eat. He's the little chow eater.
Duck, theres a big difference between this and someone that breeds constantly for money, did basset screw up? Ya, but I highly doubt these pups will end up in a shelter. And for Basset to be sure they could microchip them to be on the safe side.:)
the puppies are so so cute; you know its people like duck who make new people like me feel like they have to think really really hard before asking a question, or replying to a topic. I cannot believe how rude duck can be, and duck is a newbie also, go get a life duck!
sometimes accidents happen to be the best thing that ever happened to someone. i have 2 "accidents" and they are now 6 and 4 and the loves of my life (along with their planned sister) my children have made me realize many things in life and given me an incredibly meaningful reason to greet each new day. These puppys could be someones reason for getting up each morning, or could give someone the new perspective on life that they need. shame on you duck for trying to make these puppies anything less than they are.... perfect little miracles
Bassett.... congrats they are sooo adorable and i am seriously contemplating a drive to MI to pick one of those little critters up, let me know if you need a good forever home for one of them
dont know if it will get deleted but here is my email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Nevermind, you all are missing the point. I know accidents happen. I am talking about how you accept her accident with open arms but when another user comes on with the same accident you run them through the mill. Thats my point. Just because you know her you act like it is ok or something. If anyone else had come on and posted that 99% of you would have asked why there were 2 unaltered dogs in the home in the first place. An accident would have not of been an acceptable answer to you because you would have reamed her for not getting them fixed in the first place.
Time to get a life of your own Duck Bitter and stop worrying about mine. You've got entirely too much time on your hands. Perhaps you could volunteer at a high kill shelter and use your energy for something worthwhile, like saving dogs that are already on death row.
As suggested, if you would adopt the 3 dogs from a shelter that you say the birth of my puppies will cause to die, that should ease your mind.
Or better yet, go torment someone else on another forum. Hmmmmm, funny thing is, your number of posts is mysteriously low, would that be an indication that you are a previously banned ex-member of TP and are bitter about that?
I really owe you no explination as to why my dogs are neutered or spayed and un-neutered or spayed.
Until then, I have a lovely litter of bouncy, happy puppies who are being cared for and loved like they should be. Who are you to question how many dogs and/or puppies that I have?
The only person that I have to answer to is God and last time I looked I didn't see that job on your list of qualifications.
Do I detect jealousy? Yes, indeed. Jealousy will eat you up Duck Bitter.
signed, Basset_Lover and her litter of un-planned, but nevertheless, much loved puppies.

Ok I am going to put my two cent in here. We all have to remember that the orignal poster is someone who took in a rescue dalmation about a month ago. The dog barked to much so she dumped him at an animal shelter. Accidents don't "just happen". If you have unaltered dogs then you will have puppies. The pups are adorable no doubt, but I just hope they are perfect for they could end up in that same shelter.
Oh yes, in your eyes, I just dumped the Dalmatian.
So why didn't you step forward and rescue him yourself? I didn't see any concern and passion for the Dalmatian when I asked for suggestions? Why did you sit back and not say you wanted him?
What's wrong, you couldn't put up with a dog with so much emotional baggage either?
Perhaps you also live in civilazation and wouldn't be allowed to own an animal that barks continually, 24 - 7, non-stop?
At least I gave him a chance, which is more that I can say for you. Put your compassion where your big mouth is, come forward and rescue Dexter.
I know where Dexter is, if you'd like to rescue him. He's still available. I will let them know that you are sincerely interested in him. But you would have to provide references, personal and vet.
I know his Grandma, she's a long time friend of mine and does NOT criticize me in the least for not being able to keep Dexter. She knows, first hand, how the Dalmatian was un-trained, un-ruly and un-happy after the death of her only daughter. She calls me to check up on me and see how I am doing, even though she lost her only child this Spring.
Why am I wasting my time responding to you? You only want an argument, which is what people like you thrive on.
I have to say Basset, even after these members have been so rude to you, you have still found the way to deal with it professionally, and to that, I salute you!
Duck, I opened my arms wide open to Basset when she explained her situation and I don't even know her. I've been here for a freakin' week, I don't know anybody. If another member, say yourself, were to say something in that manner, I would have been the same way, very comprehensive and concerned all while being happy for you. But she's not you, not even close!!!!
Just like Basset said and I said in an earlier post, she doesn't have to answer to why her pets are unaltered, that's none of your business so just leave it at that.
As for the Dalmation, I probably would have done what Basset did because a dog that barks 24-7 isn't happy, and makes his owners unhappy because it annoys not only the household but everybody around like neighbours. I have to admit, if my dog were to have barked like basset has explained, I might have done the same thing, but that's a totally different story.
Duck, we're not missing the point, YOU are. Dont' forget, Basset came on these boards for moral and emotional support after coming clean with her secret and all you did was start ragging on her. NOT COOL DUCK!
Everytime I look at them I want one...lol they are so cute, u did a very good job with them. And I must say Duck when I told everyone about my cat haveing a litter of kittens, not one person was rude on here, they all offered advice and thought the kittens were cute. Most of the people onhere have always been polite or very nice, usually the ruder ones are the new members that come on here. BTW Bear wants to be puppy pals, with all of them.
Thanks canucktigger and starlight for the moral support. The pups are snoozing right now, they had a hard days work, playing and rough-housing all morning.
Flower is snoring, she's lounging near the couch with her head propped up on the throw rug. All sprawled out and dreaming puppy dreams.
Mai Tai is laying 1/2 way into my bedroom, with his head on the linoleum, it must be cooler. Not a peep out of him.
Last time I looked, Mc Carthy was sacked out in the kitchen.
Oh, the life of a puppy, imagine not having a care in the world and being able to sleep whenever you felt like it.
Sounds good to me.
I'll be back and forth all day to the computer, I've finally got a day off and am in the process of house-cleaning. A never ending job when you have puppies underfoot.
Spotty, Daisy and Tyke are all outside in the pen, enjoying the summer breeze. It's cloudy and overcast here in Michigan. Looks like rain, we need it so bad, everything is drying up from the heat we had this past week.
Puppy kisses to one and all from Mai Tai, Mc Carthy and Miss Flower.
Hey Basset_Lover. Yes I have a friend who is in Alpena now. I also have a friend in Unionville, MI. I bet you've never heard of Unionville! LOL! Chloe sent your babies an e-mail in dogster explaining the sistuation in Alpena. Let me know when you've seen it! Thanks!
Hey Rhondabkt: The puppies sent Chloe an email back and would love to be puppy pals with her. A puppy can never have too many friends, you know.
Never heard of Unionville, must be a smaller town in the lower Peninsula. Did you ever hear of Lum, Michigan? It is a very small town in the lower Peninsula, north of Detroit. Nice farm country, they seem to have loads of truck farms in that area. My ex grew up on a dairy farm in Imlay City and Lum is next door to that town.
I walked by the computer and had to be nosey to see who was here at TP. Just can't stay away.
Thanks for the offer pyrmom. My own Mom would like to keep one of the puppies and my Aunt who recently lost her beloved Chihuahua has been asking about them, too. Tell your Mom to keep her lap warmed up.
Wouldn't that be a hoot? Seeing this tiny, black and white, fur ball with your snow white Great Pyrenees? They'd probably think they coughed up a hair ball. he he
I better run again, Flower just woke up and strolled into the kitchen. I don't have any papers down and had best get some down before she decides to use the bare floor.
I know I'm going to get reamed here. But, I do see ducks point. He is just saying peopel jump all over the new posters when they say similiar things even if they did say it was an accident and he is right they would ask why they weren't fixed, left alone together, etc etc ,etc.
But because it's a long time member here, noone says anything but how cute they are. I do also find that a little weird. Maybe the ones that freak on new posters are just avoiding this topic. Because I see mutt posted in many posts but on this oen they are not mutts.
Nothing against you bassett-lover, the puppies are adorable.
But I had to respond because I do see the point duck is making. It has nothing to do with you, it has to do with how the members here respond to a topic like this differently from a new member and a long time member.
Also, I have been here a long long time and trust me they have many of times chewed someone out for it being an accident too. So duck is right about that too.
Enjoy your puppies bassett, They are adorable!!!! I just wanted to step in for duck because everyone was responding like he/she was wrong.
