for about the past two weeks, Coach has starting vomiting again! no obvious signs of blood, but it does look Orange and all sputum...... when he almost done vomiting, his mouth appears to look foamy, so i have to wipe that off of him with a towel. this only happens in the morning when he wakes up....... at night, he may rarely vomit, but that is always just food. (not that its any better). last week i spoke to the vet and he told me to just watch, that pups get into some things every now and then, but Coach doesn't have that option. i watch him like a hawk! i even stopped giving him treats b/c i didn't know what was causing it. he is on prescription Eukanuba "Low Residue" food. we are going to the vet tomorrow morning..... any ideas?
I had a dalmation mix when I was younger that always threw up in the morning. He became so used to being fed at the same time every morning, if he wasnt fed exactly at that time, he would vomit. What I started to do was feed him a little earlier. I would usually get up aroun 7:30 or 8 and feed him, and usually wake up to vomit. But if I got up just a little earlier and fed him it solved the problem. The vet also told me that in cases where I CANT feed him at that moment, he said pepto bismol helps with the tummy problems. I never tried it but he recommended it. This was years ago, so obviously I would check with your vet before doing that. I know its not the exact same problem but just thought I would share!
If it was yellow bile, it's most likely he's hungry. Can't say I've ever heard of orange. Have you tried d feeing him a little something in the morning? Does the vomiting stop after he eats? I'm curious to know what the vet tells you. Keep us posted.
thanks for the responses. coach eats in the morning and at night. i have never thought about the schedule, but there are days when i feed him earlier than others, for both b'fast and dinner feedings.... it depends on my work schedule whether i can sleep a little later or not. he eat 2-3 cups of food 2Xday he drinks a lot of water as well. i will definitely keep you posted..it is really scary to see your baby straining so hard to vomit first thing in the morning..... poor thing. it's so funny to see him now...i just finished straightening out a blanket on my couch, and there was a pillow on it from my nap earlier....well, anyway, Coach is laying on the couch with just his head on the pillow! hysterical!!!!!! i had to put that blanket over the arm of the couch since coach wanted to act like a cat and scratch it to death...sadly, it's leather....you should have seen me trying to make it look more like a couch than a chalkboard!!! not an easy task.. he has been scratching wherever he is before he lays down to sleep..i need to put mittens on him! (joke)
hi guys, vet told me not to give him any treats other than food. and to also give him some food before he goes to sleep and immediately when he wakes up (he told me to keep some kibble on my nightstand). he also gave me some pills to calm his tummy. he did not think it was his liver or kidneys and told me to keep an eye on him.
My dog, Zoe, is having the same problem - vomiting up orange bile. Now, just for a little bit of her history, she has always vomited up yellow bile and had diahrea. It was diagnosed as inflamitory bowl disease. For the first 3 years, it was always vet visits, try this, try that. We finally got her on a food where she doesnt have the vomiting and diahrea as much - she still did though maybe once a month. Anyways, we just recently switched her food to Solid Gold which really seems to help her. She has no problems with her stool. However, a couple weeks ago she was vomiting again. First couple times were with food, so we figured she just caught a bug. A couple days later after vomiting a few times, she did get better. But a week later (last week) she started vomiting again - this time it was orange bile. It wasn't the normal yellow bile - had a orange tinge to it. She only vomits in the morning (couple times around 6:30 and another around 8:30). We are feeding her 3 times a day, morning, dinner, and just before bed. We are not sure what the problem is, but my mom is concerned it's a liver disease. I'm not jumping to conclusions yet, because all the symptoms of that (and Hepetitis) she doesn't have. She is her normal self (playing, eating, walking, etc) except for the vomiting in the morning. It is not every morning either. We are taking her to the vet tomorrow to see what he thinks. But, does anyone have any opinions here?
EDIT: Well, we took her to the vet today, and he said there's really nothing to be concerned about. He just said to continue with what we are doing, which is feeding her right in the morning and just before bed. And see if that works, if it doesn't work, we will go into testing. So far she seems to be only vomiting every couple days. She didn't vomit this morning, so we'll see if she vomits in the morning. So, right now, all is good. :)

I have a similar problem, my puppy has started vomiting at around 5am every morning. 2 days ago he vomited 3 times in a row, its all white bubbly vomit. on the third time he brought up a piece of one of his toys, i thought this was the proble. however last night he vomited again. could it be that he's hungry or something else?
