My neighbor has a little 10 lb mixed dog. I noticed that her rear end area had little "dried rice" looking debris stuck in the fur. I thought it was worms - I told my neighbor and we waited until she poo'd... YEP! worms... I saw a couple little rice-like sized worms. Any ideas on a good wormer that she could use?
The type of worms you are describing is tapeworm, the white rice pieces are 'worm segments'. Most typical OTC drug treatments are useless against tapeworms. Take your dog ot the vet and get a prescribed wormer that will work. In addition, most dogs get tapeworms from ingesting fleas. If you aren't already, treat your dog with a spot-on treatment like Advantage, Advantix or Frontline.
I would also say to go to the vet and have it done right. I don't know if those over the counter wormers kill all worms, an you don't know what kind of wroms the dog has. If you aren't sure what k you're using, then don't use use it, and have it done right. I think those over the counter ones come in different dosage sizes, too, but I could be wrong. I know I wouldn't use it on my puppy. I hope your little dog hasn't been around the neignbor's dog, or even smelled the grass where he's gone potty. If he has you may want to have your pup checked again as well depending on the heartworm and flea medication now takes.

Well, I just asked my neighbor what she decided to do about the worms... she ordered a med called "D-Worm". I looked it up on the web... it just deals with tape worm.
I wish she would have just taken her pup to the vet. I know money is tight for her (she lost her husband in Feb to cancer), but I worry that she's going to spend all sorts of money buying so-so wormers until she gets it right.
I've got my fingers crossed for her that this will work.
I use panacur and Ivomec. Panacur for 5 days should cure tape worms. I was considering Drontal, but was told that these two are good enough and should kill about every worm. So far so good and I get my dogs checked yearly and they have nothing!
