I know this is an old topic. but please if you love dogs, do not buy from a petshop. Please be careful on the internet where many advertise, hiding behind the colored fabric & cutesy costumes is a mill!
We live near a large Amish community ourselves, you can go to the flea markets and see Amish folks lined up with puppies for sale, these poor things have never seen a vet, no shots, no worming etc. And you know the mother of the pups didnt get any care. Its terrible to see.
Can someone explain the whole PETA issue to me? I woudl think that an organization that protects animals would do just that, and I see them working towards the overpopulation problem etc which is good obviously... However, I saw on Bill O'reilly a PETA rep who was Pro BSL and seemed very anti pits. I thought that was a little strange. (I was only half watching it, so I didn't fully hear the whole convo). I also noticed alot of people on here are very anti peta as well and I was just curious as to why. (not trying to start an argument, just genuinely curious)
Its unreal. I dont know what to say. I donate to the organizations against such inhuman abuse, torchure and disterbing suffering but I cant really make a big diffrence with 16$, 20$, 25$ exetra. I urge you all to help if you can through e-mails and letters to friends, in order to educate others. Please help your animal friends and stop the dehumanizing truth of labs, puppy mills and experemental research centers. Even if you have nothing to give it would mean the world to those animals if you would tell a friend or stop yourself before buying a puppy from the pet store. Go to a trusting, reliable breeder. I hope that you gain the same experence that I did from that video and website.
Megbrink- peta's ultimate goal is NO CAPTIVE animals PERIOD. No cows in fields, no dogs in your house, no pet cats, no horses, nothing but deer and coyotes and wild things. They are pro BSL because that is a ban on keeping pets! Maybe not all of them but a start.
I dislike peta as well, as a pet owner and as somebody who believes that eating other animals is a basic fact of the natural world. Nevertheless, I do appreciate the information on their site about circuses & roadside menageries. If you're horrified by puppymills, I'm sure you'll be touched similarly at how intelligent, beautiful wild animals are exploited and abused to perform demeaning 'tricks'. They are most assuredly not being motivated by treats.
This made me cry but at the same time makes me so damn mad!!! I could really punch these so called breeders. What kind of sick person can do this? They need to be locked in cages smelling their feces. :<
I want to go take each and every one of them home :(

Megbrink- what they propose to do with all the dogs is to "set them free" (and they have done it at dog shows before) Because of course, the show dogs, who in most cases are people's beloved and very treasured pets, are just suffering horribly at the hands of the people showing them (am being very very sarcastic here) Those poor show dogs just hate to get fed liver in the show ring... And of course, it is so easy to win a dog show with a miserable dog (right- if the dog is miserable and not happy, you don't stand a CHANCE)
Anyway, they seem to feel that dogs fare better running horrified for their lives, dodging cars on the interstate and/or starvign to death, living "a life of freedom". Or they also think it's a good thing to euthanize them (re the two peta people recently caught putting dead dogs in dumpsters) Peta kills more dogs at their "shelters" than most humane societies. More than many high kill shelters, even!
Also- the HSUS- humane soc. of the united states- is NOT AFFILIATED with any LOCAL humane societies. If you want to help dogs and cats, donate to the LOCAL guys, not HSUS. HSUS does not give ANY money to local humane societies. Most people do not know this; donate to HSUS and think they are helping puppies, but they aren't (PETA and HSUS hold hands, it could be said)
