Oh, now, you have got me on that one, LOL!! Yep, guess they don't like that aspect of dogs! I remember once gee, must have been ten or more years ago (I was in college...) anyway there was some ding a ling show on MTV and some girl was explaining to some guy how "Dogs are actually vegetarians. You can look at their teeth and tell." Which is odd, since the teeth my dogs have seems to be for tearing and cutting, rather than grinding!
Dogs are technically omnivores, like us, and similarly it is POSSIBLE for them to survive on a carefully designed vegetarian diet. However, in the absence of activist human intervention, feral dogs usually get the overwhelming majority of nourishment from raw flesh.
My feeling is that PETA members are emotionally driven with extremely limited understanding of science and ecosystems. Ironically, though they would deny this, they really have a great deal in common with right-wing religious extremists.

dogs are technically carnivores, they are in the Order: carnivoria. There digestive systems do not digest raw vegetable matter very well. dogs do need plant matter in there diet. when a wild dog (not feral) feeds it will go for the stomach and intenstines first to get the pre digested plant matter.
