my dog, a yorkshire terrier, has a golfball sized swollen lump on his neck and its bleeding at the top of it, not insesently bleeding but , just bleeding, i dont know how it happened, or when because i just noticed it 2 days ago, he doesnt act like it bothers him but i know it cant be normal, what is wrong with him and how can i help him?
You need to take the dog to the vet. Maybe not the er vet.. but I'd be going when they open in the morning. It might only take mild aftercare, but if it is the start of something serious the 2 days you have already waited could be fatal.
waited till saturday on the 4th of july weekend? Hmmm. I am not a vet. so i cannot legally practise medicine. but, there is hope. you can go see a real one. probably not to tuesday. (the whole holiday thing) Seeing that critical thinking and problem solving are not your strong points. I just wanted to be very sure you knew what to do. again i am sorry if this post is condesending (that means "talked down to")
if ti doesnt seem to be bothering him then get some styptic pencils/silvernitrate sticks and use them to stop the bleeding and have him checked when the vets reopen on tuesday. an ER vet is not going to do an emergency lump removal. good luck with your pup.
Come on, people. This post is exactly what lpn169 was talking about in her thread, about asking for medical advise on here. I have to question the breed as well. If one of my Yorkies had a lump that big they would be top heavy, and fall over. Actually, my Yorkies do not have that much neck.
A few years ago, my Westie Jenna had a lump (our regular vet already new about it, but it abscessed & burst , was bleeding, we took her to the emergency vet within minutes at 10PM, she ended up having a fever in just that short amount of time from it.
