I have a 6 year old minpin who is about to give birth to her 4th litter. Fir the last day or so, she has been a bit listless and recently started drinking alot and throwing up some. She won't eat either. Her tummy and tits are almost hard. I was expecting her to give birth yesterday when she was restless, but she hasn't. She also has some green stuff leaking out og her vaginal area from time to time. I am very worried but i don't have the cash for a vet right now. any help is appreciated.
Listless vomiting, restless, green stuff should be in labor, everything is tight, fourth litter.
You may have uturin inertia and you are in the process of losing the pups. I suggest you call the emergency vet and ask them about their emergency care credit becuase your girl probably needs a csection right now.
You really need to do what you can to have her seen by a vet. This past Feb. I lost one of my beloved min pins. I bred her and it was to be her last litter. About 30 days into what I thought was a pregnancy I noticed she was not eating well and not feeling good. She even had a little bit of a belly on her like she was pregnant. I took her into the vet and had some test run. She was sent home pending the test results. The night she came home I noticed some nasty discharge. I called my vet (who is wonderful by the way) and told him what I had seen. He said it sounded like she may have pyometria. So, back to the vet the next day. She did have pyometria and was spayed. She only looked pregnant because her uterus was so full of infection and pus that is was enlarged. If it had ruptured she would have died very quickly. Needless to say, I still did lose her later that week. Because of her illness she went into kidney failure and I made the decision to put her down rather than to have her suffer anymore. I was totally devastated. Even if it is not pyometria your dog sounds like she has a terrilbe problem and needs to be seen ASAP. Also, I would consider not breeding her anymore. Good luck with your min pin. I hope she gets better.
Well, I'm very very sorry to say it, but you'd better find the money. Your dog has a serious infection. She needs antibiotics and almost certainly needs to have surgery immediately. If your dog's uterus ruptures, which is a very real possibility, she will die. This should be considered an EMERGENCY.

If the dog is pregnant it is probably not pyometra. She is however losing the puppies and they are dying. The green discharge is very bad, it normally means placenta are seperating, water sacs are rupturing and in general everything is going incorrectly.
One other thing it could be is a phantom pregnancy. Utuerous pus filled, I know someone online that had this happen a week or so ago. Get her in to the vet quick. If its is a phantom pregnancy, it more than likely will happen again, so a spay should be done.
If he does not have the money to go to the vet now odds are he did not have money to have an ultrasound done. So, he may just think the min pin is pregnant. Pyometra and pregnancy can look the same. I have been through that. The uterus gets enlarged from all the pus just as it would with a pregnancy. Bottom line is this poor dog needs to go to a vet. If the dog is pregnant maybe the puppies and the dog can be saved.
Take the dog to the Vet NOW!!!! They will work with you...If you don't have the money..then you shouldn't have Bred her...If she is this bad..take her, it's better to owe the Vet, than loose your dog.....
Well, I have an update for all you guys. This post was NOT a joke and I want to thank all of you for being so positive with the advice, especially pope1982. what a hippocrate. At least most of you were concerned with the dog and not just trashing me Anyway, yes she did go to the vet and yes she was pregnant. She had to have the puppies removed. None of the puppies made it but i am happy to say that my dog is healthy and fine. Apparently one of the puppies was comming out at a bad angle and got stuck. She will have her staples removed in a few days. Sorry it took so long to get an update, but i had totally forgotten about this website. I was so concerend with the dog and all
The whole thing cost me $612.53. if the vet had not agreed to hold the check for a month I would not have been able to get it done. None of the other vets I talked to would even THINK about delayed payment. no matter what was wrong with my dog.
I hope by saying that the dog has staples, it means that you had her spayed. She is in her advanced years to be put through a pregnancy and you certainly wouldn't want to risk losing her again. It isn't worth the pain and suffering that she has been through to try to produce more puppies out of this dog. She's already had 4 litters, poor girl.
