I heard on the news that scientists discovered that some breeds of dogs can have 3/4 the same genes as humans do. The breeds are; Labrador Retriever Golden Retriever Beagle Dachshund Boxer Shih Tzu Miniature Schnauzer Pomeranian Rottweiler Shetland Sheepdog Miniature Pinscher Doberman Pinscher Basset Hound English Springer Spaniel West Highland White Terrier Australian Shepherd Lhasa Apso Cairn Terrier Newfoundland Airedale Terrier Havanese Chow Chow Border Collie Brussels Griffon English Cocker Spaniel Cardigan Welsh Corgi Gordon Setter Borzoi Smooth Fox Terrier Kerry Blue Terrier Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Spinone Italiano Lakeland Terrier Pharaoh Hound Ibizan Hound American Foxhound
All dogs share more than 75 percent of the same genes as humans. In fact, I've heard that it's as high as 95 percent. Mice share 92 percent of hte same genes, and great apes like chimps share 98 to 99 percent of the same genes. I guess when you think of it in terms of, we are mammals, we nurture our young, we eat the same types of food (only humans prefer theirs cooked) our organ systems are pretty much identical.. Not a big stretch.
