You're going to get some fairly different responses on this questions, just don't let anybody get under your skin from your previous post...
If you have confidence in yourself that you have time for a new dog, space and attention wise, please, feel free to adopt from your local shelter.
I would advise making sure you can have pets in the appartment you live in first, just to make sure your landlord doesn't evict you for having a pet and that meaning you and your new dog are out in the cold...
I might not recommend a toy breed, as previously mentioned, they are quite needy...maybe something along the line of a sheltie, corgi, something a little rugged...
Definitely not a Beagle....very needy, howling. We have Pugs, and they are pretty laid back, Many other toy breeds like a Min Pin, terriers, can get destructive if bored....crate training is a good idea for whatever you decide, and the walker sounds like a great idea, the dogs would enjoy it as long as you feel its someone trustworthy. And I do agree with a cat being a better choice in that situation.
Labs are geat and very mellow , but probably way bigger than you want. I agree that a JRT can be pretty needy and not that calm. I do wish you luck in finding the right dog, and I'm sure when you see him or her, you'll know it's the right one :-) Keep us posted and let us know what you end up adopting.
I RELLY LIKE JACK RUSELL TERRIER . AFTER I READ ALL YOUR ADVICE AND MY OWN RESEARCH I DECIDED NOT TO GET JACK RUSSEL TERRIER FOR MY ONE BEDRROM APARTMENT BECAUSE IT IS TOO ACTIVE AND MAY DAMAGE FURNITURE AND BEDS
MY BROTHER JUST ADVICED ME TO GET POODLES BECAUSE IT WILL NOT SHED MUCH AND EASY TO MAINTAIN
I FIND PUGS WILL NOT BARK THAT MUCH WHICH WILL NOT TROUBLE MY NEIGHBOURS I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE HEALTH ISSUES FOR PUGS
I LOVE JOGGING OR FAST WALKING EVERY DAY FOR AN HOUR I NEED A DOG WHICH COULD GIVE ME COMPANY
I NEED A DOG WHICH IS QUIET INSIDE THE APARTMENT ( NOT TO BOTHER ME TOO MUCH )
MAY LAST QUESTION IS SHOULD I ALSO BUY A DOG CAGE? THE TIME I AM AWAY , CAN I LEAVE THE DOG INSIDE THE CAGE. I AM ALSO ARRANGING THE DOG WALKER TO COME AND TAKE THE DOG OUT FOR WALK COUPLE OF HOURS THE DAYS I WORK
I think I would go with the Pug, both begause they are smaller and require less grooming, although I don't think poodles shed. Still, you'll have to get poodle groomed.
Most defintely get a crate for your dog. Since you'll be adopting an older do, you reeally don't know how he or she will act or what kind of trouble it may get in when you're gone , not to mention, it will also be safer for the dog.
