I just tried giving my rather smelly puppy a bath and he immediately jumped out onto me.. so I put him back in and he jumped back onto me.. he just got soaked and not washed so now he has the lovely wet dog smell.
So my question is (I know! So many questions from me!) What do I wash him with and how do I get him to stay put while washing?
the only way to get him used to it is repetition., i have one dog who runs TO me when its her turn, adn the other one sits, and just about falls asleep for bath time. course, they like the lake, the creek, the pool....won't potty in rain, though :P
Baby Chi is an absolute little hellion when it comes to baths (and ESPECIALLY toenail trimming). Everyone is right. Repetition. Try to talk softly and move very slowly. Ha ha! We have to move slowly so we don't get bit...she hates it that much. Some Chihuahuas really have evil little personalities. We usually have to wrap our girl up in a towel to trim her toenails. She has some sort of foot phobia I think. Lots of Pet Supply stores and magazines offer a bath tie-up. That may help in your situation. Just be sure you tie-off short enough that they can't clear the edge of the bath tub. Best of luck!
