Alldogslover- Same here! I would never want a pitbull either, I know that its because of the owner, but I had such a bad experience with one!
I was at my grandma's house once & I was outside, playing with their dog. (Lab & chi mix! I'll post a pic later). Well I was playing with their dog & suddenly this pitbull comes up & knocks me over! I fell right on my head & I started bleeding, but thank GOD that the pitbull didn't bite me or anything, I guess it was a friendly one & it just wanted to play with me. But that freaked me out enough!
Once I was talking to somebody and they were like "I would love to get a chihuahua, but I know that they shiver so I would get them a little sweater!" I wanted to slap them. It pisses me off when people dont know jack about an animal. She actually got one and I told her to learn some more about it. She never did and she ended up naming the thing Shivers. Shivers wears a nice little shirt in the blistering heat because "he is still cold"
DontLikeMuttBreeders - UGH! I can relate to what you are saying! It drives me nuts when people say that and then look at me like I have been beating the dogs because they "shiver". Not all chi's do it, but most do. When someone makes a big deal about it, it is a flag for me to know that they did not do the research on the dog and are probably just buying one because everyone else has one. I don't like adopting to those types of people they remind me of the ones that will want their money back if the dogs cries at night or does not learn to go potty outside right away! Though there are those people just trying to learn and you can tell the difference from someone that really likes the dog and someone that just likes the idea of looking like Paris Hilton. Then I understand they are trying to learn about the dog.
I personally like larger dogs. I don't like Huskies, Rotties or German Shepards. They are too large. I am soon getting a goldendoodle puppy in about 2 weeks. Many people are against them. I just want one for a good family pet, not a show dog. Therefore, I don't care if she has a AKC registerd paper. I love Golden Retrievers and English Setters too. Not yappy dogs.
