A friend of mine was looking in the recycler for a Shih Tzu. And long and behold guess who back trying to sell sick dogs. He's the new web site name she's under http://www.californiacockapoos.com . We need to get her buisness license revoked.
That place is a farce. Did you read what she says about herself? No wonder she has sold so many sick puppies.
I will quote... "I solicit female dogs to breed at my grooming shop. I tell people how cute their females are and they usually breed with my boys and that's how I get my pups to sell. I get the pick and I usually help sell the whole litter."
Get this... "All puppies are up to date with their shots, de-wormed, bathed, flealess, with any color bow in the top knot you like. So cute!"
Like having a different colored bow in their hair is a big deal, instead of wasting her money on bows, she should concentrate on raising healthy puppies or better yet, get out of the business.
And even more deceit... "The best thing about buying a mix is that hereditary problems are gone. Cocker's have bad ears, Shihtzu's have bad skin, when you mix them with a Poodle - NO MORE PROBLEMS."
What a crock. Trouble is, un-suspecting people are going to get caught up in her hype. She should be closed down for good, with all the bad reports there have been filed on her.
Her website makes for good reading, if you are into lies and hype.
Otherwise, take the advice of those that have gone before you in their venture with a dog from Anna and steer clear from her.
Fin That's funny that you should ask that question because I also wondered if that was Anna on the site too. I spoke to her over the phone, because b4 I found this forum, I had set an appt. to go and see one of her puppies (thank goodness I didn't keep it) & when I spoke to her she sounded like a much "older" lady, so I don't think that's her. But regardless of what she looks like, I wish she would just get out of the business of dealing with ANY animals all together, grooming or selling...
What more can we do. I don't want any one heart to be broken when they lose their babies also. What about the sick pippies that have to suffer. The one's that aren't sick are exposed. Can't people go to city council meetings and complain. I went to a meeting before and people complained about the smallest thing and it was looked into and taken care of.
Well, can;t say that PETA is one of my favorite organizations, especially with all that's come to light recently. HOWEVER, it might not be a bad idea at ALL to sic them on her. After all, they DO have a lot of repair work to do with their image~
I think she has a court date on July 29th. Go and support the others who are trying to shut her down.
The problem is with Anna... she has made a boat load of money for several years selling pets, she may go down, but I believe she will pop up immediatley... most likely doing business under someone elses name... keeping herself in the background but still getting all the profit. She needs to go to prison, but I don't think that will happen. Remember, Norwalk is in LA county. This crime may be viewed as petty compared to what the courts see day to day in that area. In another area, I think she'd be fried.
I feel sorry that she will hurt someone again...soon!
Sue - She's showing you what she can buy with her puppy profits. lol

That is indeed Anna. She is just foul. She shows up to court in outfits 3 sizes to small and 6 inch heels. It would be funny if the whole thing weren't so sad. She will be in court again on the 29th of July (after postponing it) and hopefully the Judge will come down hard on her.
The laws in CA. are such that they don't view animals any differently than they do any object that one purchases (i.e. one would expect a few tv's to have flaws and need to be returned). It's really shocking. That is why she has been able to get away with this for so long. She knows how to skirt around the laws. It's also hard to get Judges to understand that this is animal abuse because she's spreading disease - she is essentially killing them slowly with her neglect and her refusal to clean up her business (she has also put many to sleep). I'm not sure how many puppies have to die from one business in order for the authorities to shut her down for good but this has certainly been an education for me in terms of the laws (or lack there of) that we have to protect animals.
She also changed her website because everytime someone tried to look up Anna's Pets the thread on terrificpets telling of her selling sick puppies would come up first. It's really great because I am sure that it hurt her business and saved a lot of people from a lot of heartache.
THis is no help what so ever, but...I noticed her quote on the site from Gene Hill. THought i'd do a search and see if there was anyway to contact someone to see if they really WANT that quote associated with her.
Meanwhile, I came across this site and thought the quotes were good for a few chuckles.
“The laws in CA. are such that they don't view animals any differently than they do any object that one purchases (i.e. one would expect a few tv's to have flaws and need to be returned).”
That is not completely true. California has probably the best most comprehensive puppy lemon laws in the country, which supercedes any contract that contradicts it. Among many other things, a breeder/dealer can not force you to bring a sick dog back for reimbursement or treatment. They have to pay the vet bill up to 150% of purchase price if you want to keep the dog, or reimburse you up to 200% of the purchase price if you bring a sick dog back or if it dies. The problem is, buyers do not realize their rights and think that they have to do what the contract says, so people like Anna can get away with selling sick pups with no real consequences for them.
Juno, Yes they are supposed to reimburse you up to 150% of the purchase price(for vet bills) if you choose to keep the puppy but they do not have to reimburse up to 200% of the purchase price of the dog if it dies or is returned. That just isn't the case.
Besides my complaint with the system has more to do with the fact that anyone thinks it is easy to "return" a puppy when he/she becomes ill. As far as I am concerned once you take them home they are part of the family - not an item to be returned or exchanged. This is a living, breathing, loving thing that is not replaceable. The idea that anyone can just say give it back to me and I'll give you a new one is horrifying to me.
And yes Anna does try to bully people into thinking that she doesn't have to reimburse your vet bills if you decide to keep the puppy. That's how she stays in business - by bullying people who are dealing with very sick animals and who are trying to do the right thing for the puppy. I just think that the laws need to protect the animals more and not just one's pocketbook.
