I mentioned in chat the other night that I've been doggie sitting Shaggy. He's one of our pups that belongs to my daughter. He was a perfect gentleman for the 1st four days. THEN I gave Beau (and Arwen) a bath.
He has not left poor Beau alone for a second since that bath! I'm not sure just what scent in the shampoo combined with Beau's natural scent is driving this guy nuts, but Beau needs another bath already from the slobber, drool and chewing, among other things! Third day of attacks upon porr Beau's "person".
He hasn't bothered Arwen once, just Beau. He will NOT let Beau out of his sight. He has developed an "unnatural" attraction to his own father! Talk about confused.
If I try putting Shaggy in another room, all he does is cry, whine and yes folks..Pyrs (I have just found out) CAN howl!
I mean, it's NOT like Beau is in heat, but you would think he was by Shagster's behavior. Time for this guy to go home so my poor guy can have ANOTHER bath and be able to sleep with BOTH eyes closed! UGHHHHHHHH
OMG! I'm telling you...if my daughter does not come get him soon, I'll be doing his nutering here, with a pair of scissors! Beau has got to have another bath now...stinky, slimy...poor guy can't even EAT in peace!
This is BEYOND rediculous! I have NEVER witnessed such an obsession in my life!
LOL Rhondak...I dabbed a bit of vanilaa extract on my fingertip and put it on Shaggy's nose as you suggested. He's so busy sneezing that I guess Beau will get a break for a few minutes at least!
Caca, I "sit" corrected! Just went back out in the living room to check and he's at it again! I even tried some of the Rescue Remedy I had on hand for Arwen~nada.
Now, I KNOW Beau is nutered, BUT...
Arwen IS an intact female and smaller than Shaggy, also bathed with the same shampoo. Shaggy had no "unnatural interest" in Beau until after Beau was bathed. Even if it were a case of dominacne issue...why only AFTER the bath? What in the WORLD?????
This is the most bizzare thig I have ever had to deal with! Shot of my daughter getting her butt back here to pick him up, putting him in another room or on the porch and listening to him keen and howel...I'm left with only the scssor soultion! He better watch it!
I want you to know, Beau was 2 last April. In all this time, I have NEVER heard him growl, ever. He has now growled at Shaggy 3 times. Poor guy has simply had more than enough.
Beware~ whatever you do, DON'T use "Tropical Awapuhii White" shampoo with adolescent male dogs around!
