Right now I'm using nutro large breed puppy till shes 1 then i was planning on going to nutro large breed adult...or is Nutro MAX better? I like the large breed because it has the glucosomene and such.
Hello, I've been feeding my puppy purina pro plan. He seems to really like it. He's seems healthy and full of energy. His coat is also very shiny. He is a five month old coker spaniel. Does anyone else use this brand?
I had been feeding Natural Balance and my dogs were doing very good on it, but i have switched to Nutro Natural Choice Ultra, because they have a puppy formula. I have noticed that my crew has gained a little weight on it, but they look so good. I like it a lot. I know another breeder who talked me into switching and his pups had actually gotten bigger when he switched over, and were much healthier, not that they weren't before they had just really fleshened up and looked great, it's amazing what a good feed will do.
Feed your puppy either the Nutro Natural Choice for Large Breed Puppy or Nutro NC Ultra Puppy. There are several more nutritious ingredients in the Ultra vs the Natural Choice. Supposedly, Nutro considers the Ultra their best product.
I started out with Nutro Max without knowing at the time that it was low grade nutrition. When I went over to PetCo, they recommended that I should feed my puppy Hershey either the Natural Choice or the Ultra. If glucosamine chondroitin is a major thing for your puppy to have than I suggest the Natural Choice since it has more than the Ultra Puppy.
I started feeding Hershey Nutro Ultra Puppy dry dog food yesterday. So far, she likes it a lot. Also, I give her sometimes 1/3-1/2 cup Nutro Ultra Puppy canned food as a special treat. Hershey likes the Ultra Puppy biscuits. They are somewhat smaller than the Natural Choice biscuits.
I have 3 samples of Wellness dry dog food to try with Hershey. Although, even if she likes the Wellness ones, she'll need to use up the 35 pounds of Nutro Ultra Puppy first.
My Hershey loved the samples of Wellness. She tried the Wellness Super5Mix: Chicken, Super5Mix: Lamb, and the Fish & Sweet Potato Formula. It looks like once Hershey's Nutro Ultra runs low, I'll need to decide whether to change her over to one of the Wellness. The chicken and the lamb ones also have fish, fruit, and vegetables. I also like that there is glucosamine chondroitin added.
Your puppy is having diarrhea more than likely because the food you're giving isn't the right one for your pup. I also had the same problems when I first got Hershey. I got her quickly off of Pedigree which has by-products and changed her to a natural food. I currently feed her Nutro Ultra Puppy. She loved the samples of Wellness. It's possible that once Hershey runs low on her Nutro Ultra that I might change her over to Wellness. It will be awhile since her vittles vault is full.
lots of vets recommend science diet because they get kick backs from the company for selling that brand, it is a crap brand though, if you look the first ingredient is corn. not good, i would look into feeding a natural, holistic brand dog food. i feed chicken soup, it is a human grade kibble and the dogs LOVE it
i just switched my two from beneful (which i knew was pure crap) to diamond lamb & rice formula. they absolutely love it. in fact they eat all of their food now, and we even feed them a bit more now because we dont give them as much human food. They didnt get any diarrhea, they look and feel healthy, have the same amount of energy and just seem happier all around. now i'm hearing that diamond is crap, too? say it aint so!
I use to feed both of my dogs Diamond Lamb and Rice and the Beef and Rice, they are pretty good lines of the Diamond food. Niether have corn or by products in the food.I stopped feeding the Diamond because my pet store stopped carrying it.I was feeding both those lines to my dogs.I had to find another food, and my pet store carries Canidea and the Chicken Soup. Now i'm feeding Canidea which is a high end food.Stay away from the Diamond in the yellow bag,or even in the purple bag. These lines are no good.
Started with Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy. Found out how bad it was. Changed to Merrick's Puppy Platter (dry). The girls seemed to like it but we had puddles instead of piles. Changed over to Innova Large Breed Puppy (dry). Still had puddles, but not as bad. Finally we found one that results in piles. The girls get Eagle Pack Large Breed (dry - holistic). They really seem to like it and they look great. Coats are nice (even in mid blow), eyes are clear and no tear stains (Raja is a white husky). It took us months to find the right food for them. What with mixing the old with the new. They're almost 9 month old and we have a food that works.

I did feed my pups Bil-Jac puppy, which was good. Then I tried Chicken Soup for the Puppies Soul. Well, they loved it and the one pup with bad skin, it improved dramatically. I swear by the Chicken Soup! It's the best! And the pups love it!
"Tiki is eating Eukanuba Small Bites Adult Formula (dry food) and Pandora is still a pup (almost 3 months) and is eating Eukanuba Small Bites Puppy Formula... Yummy, they love it!! " -Tiki&PandorasMom
I hate to say it, but Eukanuba is chalked full of chemicals.
They use chemical preservatives like BHA and BHT, for example, which are actually banned from human use in many countries but still permitted in the US despite the fact that they're a possible human carcinogen. BHA and BHT were also proven to be carcinogenic in animal experiments and it should be noted that the oxidative characteristics and/or metabolites of BHA and BHT may contribute to carcinogenicity or tumorigenicity. Why on Earth would anyone want to pump their pet full of cancer causing chemicals?
