Everyone is telling to get the microchip into my dog, and I was wondering if ws painful and worth it and if you lose your dog how will they track it down. Also my vet wants to charge me 40 dollars for the microchip and $12.50 for some licsense you send off. Do yall think that is expensive.
That price is typical, Df. Thats' what I payed formy dog's microchips. It does give you some security, especiall in the event your dog ever gets stolen. The microchip is proof that the dog is yours. Regarding it being painful, none of my dogs have reacted to it any more than they have a normal vaccination.

My dog came with a tatoo, but I'm still planning on microchipping her.
Be aware though that if your dog does get loose and is picked up by the pund, the pound might not bother to check for tatoos or microchips. My dog trainer told me a story 2 days ago that when his pup got got loose, and he called all the local pounds and they told him she wasn't there. However when he went to the pound ... voila ... there she was!!
I think you should. When you get your dog fixed or spayed they can do it then and it is painless. It is like a big shot and the chip goes most of the time around their leg. It WORTH it. You don't worry about the what if the tag falls off. I am getting my new dog chipped next month. It is 50 dollars for a life time of protection.
