I just bought a Male Boxer puppy about a week ago and i was planning on showing him when he gets older, but he is registered under ACA not AKC. Are there any dog shows for this registry? is there any way to change from ACA to AKC? Thank you for your time, Lmatt
The ACA would count as a fly by night registry with fewer rules and regulations.
Reputable ones like the CKC and UKC and others you can switch over, but not lower quality registries.
Some of the fly by night ones do have 'shows'.. but it isn't really seen as the same.
It's one more reason you have to be very very picky on breeders. Especially if you want to show... I would find it doubtful that the breeding stock of a puppy with a less reputible registry is creating dogs with show potential anyhow..
you could register your dog with akc by getting her a ILP number but you cannot show in comformation with that type of registry. you can only show in their ither performance event such as agfility and fly ball and obedience.
akc does not accept full transfer registrations from the newer canine registry groups,, only from reputable longstanding registries like the CKC - canadian kennel club .
You may want to contact ACA direct to see if they have any dog shows. UKC may accept transfer regitries from the less known suspect registries but you would hvae to contact them directly also. i am kinda leaning towards they do not either and may only accept the registrations as the AKC does with an ILP number.
Same answer here...ACA, same as APR, not a major registry, will register most anything you can prove looks anything like the real thing.....best to do is call ACA, see what events they offer....i doubt very much AKC will let you reg with them for conformation purposes, possibly UKC Where did you get the dog (sorry you may have mentioned this already, i'll look) if not where did you get it that it turned out a different reg than you thought?
