a few of my friends think i am really gross because i kiss my dogs all the time. and i let them lick my hands and face. i personally am not a germ freak like my sister, but i obviously wouldnt french kiss my dog after he/she just finished cleaning their butts.
but my friends still think its disgusting. i dont think so. i'm not sure if i buy into the story that dog saliva is naturally clean or whatever (havent researched it cause i dont really care...) but even if it isn't i dont think their mouths are any dirtier than human mouths (ok..with the exception of the occasional cat poo binge).
so, should i refrain from the kisses? will i get sick or parasites? do you guys think its gross?
Personally, I see nothing wrong with it. I kiss my dog all he time, and I let her kiss me back ... even if she has just licked herself ... OL. If your friends think it's gross or don't want to see it, thell them not to watch :-)
Oh yeah. A P.S. I've been kissing my dogs and letting them kiss me over 25 years, and it hasn't killed me, made me sick, or put me in the hospital yet

Of course my pups kiss me and I kiss them!! Tiki knows "Kissy" and when we say this she will walk up to anyone and lick them on their lips...she is a sweetheart...Pandora only knows BITE!! (She is teething).
I kiss my dogs all the time. Not with tongue or anything..lol but I'll grab their faces and kiss their mouths and I'll let them lick my face, however, I won't let them lick my mouth..not because I think it's disgusting or dirty, but I just don't want my mouth being all wet.
I'll even let them lick my icecream and then continue to eat it. Most people think it's disgusting, but DH is the only one that has to kiss me afterwards and he doesn't mind, so who cares.
I kiss my dogs and am not ashamed to admit it. Tyke is a big mushy face, I told him I'm going to enter him in the best kisser contest at the State Fair next month. I think he's got a good chance of winning, too. :)
Even if he is rough and tumbling with Daisy, across the house, if I make a kissing sound with my mouth, he's right there to collect his smooches. He's got the cutest little flat face, you can't help but mush him up.
I too kiss my Cody all the time and he kisses back. I kiss him on his head, nose, paw or on his back. In the morning my husband takes him outside, he leaves him off the leash and I hear the herd coming down the hall and I stay in bed because Cody is coming in to jump on the bed and give me kisses and more kisses to get me up. Cody weighs 17lbs. but he sounds like 170 lbs. running down the hallway. I too have been kissing dogs all my life and have never gotten sick from it and they haven't either.lol If you like to kiss your dog, go ahead, who cares what others think, maybe they are jealous of the bond between you and your little kisser.
DoGoneIT, I'll share ice cream with my pup, too. I buy those Tropicana orange and vanilla ice cream bars. The outside is frozen orange juice, and inside is vanilla ice cream. Angie will lick a little of the orange juice part, .. not much ... but she she gets most of he ice cream inside when I finish off the orangejuice outer shell.
All the time. My little Savannah (Westie) is such a kisser. She must give me hundreds of kisses a day. I don't care where her mouth was. If some folks think it's wrong, that's their issue. I wouldn't want other folks dogs kissing me on the mouth, but if it's your own dog, it's different. That's how I feel.
I kiss Logan all the time....everywhere! Even in his mouth! He licks me clean all the time, and even though he licks his own butt...his butt is owned by me....so its good to go! He is really big on kisses, and is willing and ready to give them anytime, anywhere.....he wakes me up with kisses!
My cosmetologist thinks im insane......by the way....but screw her, who cares! After med school, and taking parasitology....I should be walking around with Lysol in my bag...but what kind of life would we have, if we were all paranoid about germs???
Okay, I'm definately in the minority, lol. I will start out by saying I don't think there is anything wrong with anyone that does that. But for me, I can't, and the reason why is because I have mild OCD and have a big time germ thing. So it freaks me out if a dog licks my face. And if they lick my hands, I wash them afterwards with antibacterial soap. I also cringe when dogs eat off people's plates. Again, I don't think there is anything wrong with it, there's just something wrong with me, lol.
I have Chihuahuas and Pomeranian, so I and my husband have the cleanest heads and face around. My husband is bald and the Chihuahuas stand on his shoulders and clean his head. I only hope they never get sick from this....
My husband is bald too and Cody loves to lick his head too! Dennis will lay on the floor and let Cody lick as long as he wants sometimes it is only a few minutes and then there are times when it is 1/2 hour or more. Cody is a big time kisser! Kisses morning, noon and night! He is a sweetie!!
"""Again, I don't think there is anything wrong with it, there's just something wrong with me, lol"""
lol HM! I don't think there is anything wrong with you persa...haha...but some care and other's don't. I was watching this show called "Elimidate" and this girl brought her dog on..the ENTIRE date, she kept "french kissing" her dog...tongue and all. IMO, that was gross!! She even based her elminations off of who would actually kiss her pooch.
But...I'd share icecream?? Go figure..I guess it's kind of the same thing.
I kiss mine, but on the side of their faces. Tina has got where she will hold her head up and turn the side of her face up to me so I can give her kisses. One day at the vet I had kissed her on the side of the face and when they came in to check her they thought she was bleeding. I told them it was only lipstick.
Huntersmom.....here is something that will make you cringe, When my sister comes over, when she drinks water, she'll give some water out of her glass to Logan....and then continue drinking herself, she deoes it as "just a matter of fact" doesnt even think twice, he'll look at her, and she gives him some...then just picks the cup up again.....Hehe, she loves him to pieces, but thats one thing even I wouldnt do....But hey, its her choice....

Absolutely! My dogs lick hands face, neck, arms, and kiss them (tongue free) right back, my hubby likes the kisses too, but not crazy about his face and lips being licked, so they save that for me. You have no idea how many people are totally disgusted by the dogs kissing me and me aloowing them to have bits of my food or drink, ice cream, etc, them I'll continue to eat.......they can turn their heads if it grosses them out!
