I let my dogs kiss me all the time!! And I kiss them all the time too. Chopper and Lexie aren't really really kissy but Mollie is. I come home though, and EVERYONE's there to give me a kiss. Mollie licks my entire face clean of makeup, lol, Chopper gives me several small kisses on the mouth, and Lexie gives me one or two big ol slobbery wet doberman kisses on the mouth. It doesn't bother me at all. I let them lick plates, silverware, drink from my glass, eat my ice cream, you name it. I agree some people think it's totally gross, like my mom (who is a clean freak), but it's my house, my dogs and my rules so they just have to deal with it. I think Lexie actually gives my mom more kisses than she does me though. When "grandma" comes over, Lexie just jumps on her lap and smothers her in kisses!!! It's soooo funny, my mom doesn't like doggie kisses. Her dog, Sadie, I think was trained to not give kisses by the people that owned her before. I've never gotten a kiss from her and Dad said she's only given him a couple small kisses and they've had her since before Christmas!! I just feel so bad for her!! Every dog should be allowed to give (and receive) kisses!!
I let Jada kiss me all the time! She likes to lick my legs after I get out of the shower for some reason. I like to kiss her on her snout, head, ears, and big hugs too. I can understand those who don't like it though, but for me, I grew up doing it so its just part of having a dog! My sister-in-law though, when she comes over she doesn't like to be licked so I think Jada drives her crazy, cause all she wants to do is lick her hands!
ALL of my dogs kiss me! My mother flips out, complaining that I need to train them not to lick! I don't care! It doesn't bother me at all! But I did tell her if she ever kicks one of my dogs again she will be paying the vet bill. One of my doxies likes to lick your ears out too. It feels funny but she loves it. My husband calls her "Our 4-legged Q-Tip" I kiss them on thir noses. My new Italian Greyhound is even kissing us now. :)
I kiss all my babies. The dogs, the cats, the macaws, the horses. My boyfriend thinks it's disgusting, he is a total neat/clean freak. He will barely come near me. My babies are way more affectionate then he is.
French kissing the dog to me is yucky too, Cody does that to me by accident once in a while, I'll be holding him, he likes to be held with his front paws over my shoulders and his head next to mine and if I am talking he will sneak a quickie kiss in sometimes his tongue touches mine, I really don't like that at all but it happens and I love him.
I definetly discourage it, most people do not appreciate it.I let the dog visit lots of different people and they have to have good manners. To let them lick a cheek on command is different then in the mouth(EW, some dogs eat poop! And spread parasites to children, yuck!) To us its kissin, to the dog it a submissive, please regurgitate somethin, I'm humgry, yum yum! You are god!!
alldogslover I am with you. I have never had anyone kick my dog but I did have a couple over to my house on New Years Eve and Cody was about 6 months old, he is a BichonWestie mix, not a big dog right and the husband of this couple is a very, very big guy, 6 feet tall, 380-400 lbs. well Cody being a pup pawed at his knee several times and this guy would knee him each time then he made a comment about he didn't appreciate the dog being in his crotch and gave the look well I just said "don't worry about it, I'll take care of it" so I was getting the leash out to put on Cody and this guys wife says, don't put him in his cage, and my reply was, don't worry, I am not putting him in is cage, he hasn't done anything wrong. What I did do was keep Cody on leash the rest of the evening and at some point the guy said to me, let Cody come over here, I want to pet him, I just ignored him and kept Cody by me, Cody was perfectly happy and so was I and my husband. I wasn't about to let this guy touch Cody after that, I wasn't sure if Cody looked at him wrong if he would do anything or not. I told my husband the next day that I will NEVER invite that couple over to the house again, we can meet them somewhere, go to their house whatever but HE will never knee my dog again. One thing you all have to understand too is that this guy acts like this, he wife is beside him making a big fuss over the dog and getting the dog excited so he doesn't know what to do, I did try to step in several times to try to get Cody to settle down, even though he was just being a puppy and I really didn't see anything wrong with his actions, I felt sorry for Cody and just wanted to protect him. I found it humorous that the wift would think that I would punish the dog becasue her husband was being an idiot. They both know how I LOVE my dogs and how I treat them and I do teach them manners but puppies will be puppies at times, Cody still get excited when people come over but after a few minutes he settles down but this guy will never know cause he isn't invited back.
My friend has a dog, and he loves to give kisses, and I will be getting a dog in about a month. No, I do not like to be kissed, or have my dogs kiss anyone. But then again I am a neat freak...I have FWFG. (Freakishly Wierd Fright of Germs)
Nope. But they do sneak one in once in a while, lol, especially Lily but for the most part I avoid the flying toungue, if she does get me I don't get mad, I just laugh and say yuck or oh gross you got me. It's kind of a game with us. I kiss them on the cheek, head and muzzle but not on the mouth. I'm a germaphobe. I don't care if other people let them kiss them but it's not for me.
