I hava a 3 year old Beagle. I noticed the other day when I brushed her that she had pet dander. She pushes her back end into me and my husband to scratch her back. Does anyone know of anything I can give her to stop the dry skin? I called Petco and they said put a teaspoon of oil in her food. Anyone with solution? I haven't changed her diet and I bath her once a month. She doesn't have fleas.
Ginger is a digger. I have 1/2 an acre and she always digs up something to bring me. The white part of her end up off white. I try to keep her advantage up especially in the summer. I don't want to have a flea infestation. She's an indoor dog. This year she's on her 4th bath. My husband wets them down and put water in their pool before he goes to work at noon, because it's about between 90 to 100 degrees at our house. I get home from work about 2 hours later and then their in the air conditioned house. They're very spoiled. I'll try to add egg and oil to her food. Hopefully It will help her.
Somtimes I actually bathe Mason once a week and it helps his itching some and he already stinks by then anyways. I bathe him in a soap free oatmeal anti itch shampoo and he absolutly loves his baths he runs in to the bathroom to the shower everytime.
We have show paps and they get bathed every week or more depending on where we are showing (inside or out on the grass and mud). Using a mild shampoo and rinsing well are important--as well as using a conditioner. A conditioner can help both the skin and hair, look in most large pet supply catalogues, PetEdge has a lot to choose from. Fats and oils do help, but as it has been said, allergies may be involved.
