I shop at both to be honest. I really like the "Treat Bar" " that Petoco has, and don't tell anyone, but personally , I'm really hooked on the vanilla pretzel cookies and the carob chip cookies ... LOL.
Neither. They're the Wal-mart and Kmart of pet supply stores. Neither has a huge selection of decent food (though Petco wins hands down in that regard) and both hire rather unknowledgeable people to sell live animals to people who don't know better. I don't like supporting any store that makes their money off an animal's suffering- and guinea pig and hamster mills DO exist. Don't even get me started on their treatment of exotic birds and reptiles.
I buy food at great privately owned stores who refuse to offer CRAP to their customers- and buy supplies there, or online.
Well, I shop at Petsmart for most supplies. Collars, leads, bowls, and the general stuff (toe nail cutters, toys, puppy pads). I don't generally go to Petco because it's much farther from my house. I too buy my food from a small pet store. They're the only ones who carry it. I recently signed an online petition to try and stop Petsmart from selling kits (baby ferrets). Petco already sells them (and shouldn't) and there are too many in rescue in the area as it is.
I've never seen a Petco either...so I guess I'd have to say PetSmart...
Although I'm with Longdogs on this one....I'd much rather go to Wal-mart or Target for pet supplies and treats...but most of the time I go to a little Mom and Pop type store.
Even PetSmarts live crickets are nasty..they stink and just look unhealthy. We buy about 3 dozen crickets every couple of weeks or so and I've refused to get them from PetSmart....but that's not to go without saying that I do go into PetSmart to look around ALL the time and plus, it's a place where I know I can take all of my dogs.
LOL finalsphere. Only eating the cookies from the Treat Bar ... LOL. They have less sugar than the store bought people cookies, but they still taste the same. . I would never dare try tasting the hard bone kinds of treats, but Heckor, I'll be sure try the animal crackers the next time I'm in Petco ... giggle.
I shop more at PetCo for Hershey's dog food and also her treats. I agree with Harlee about the wonderful "Treat Bar" that PetCo has. I too have spoiled my Hershey with all kinds of treats from the "Treats Bar". I go to PetCo more than Petsmart since it's closer to home. Both are good stores. Now if someone is looking for good low prices for rawhides and healthy edibles flavor bones than PetEdge so far has the lowest prices for them.
I would like to add that in regard to Petsmart and Petco, one is directly across the street from thethe other, so it's no big deal as to which one I want to go to ... unless I need to visit the Treat Bar ... LOL.
