Yesterday I finally got my puppy. I had planned on a female but got a male instead. I rescued him from the dog pound. He's about 16 weeks old, a colliegerman shepherd mix. He is really laid back and walks very well on a leash. He just loves kids and he doesn't mind my cat, Lily. He's so cute, but so dirty and extremely skinny, you can feel every single rib and his hip bones. He has longer hair so you can't see it but you can definently feel them. We named him Cooper. He gets a bath today so I will post pictures later.

Cooper has a vet appointment today at 3 because he's coughing up foaming stuff. I hope it isn't anything too bad, because my son and I would both be devestated. I'll post updates on his vet appointment later today.
If its only foamy when he's coughing and its not readily oozing from his mouth, it may be nothing. Mine will eat grass, etc and foam when they throw it up or coughing trying to throw it up. Is his behavior normal?....Let us know what the vet says
It's only when he coughs it up. He isn't eating and he doesn't seem to be acting like a puppy. He just lays there and follows you when you get up. My sisters puppy acted somewhat like this and he had parvo. :( So I'm worried about that.
I'm getting an 8 month old purebred german shepherd on Friday. The people we are getting them from say that he's been to police training, he's housebroken, good with other animals, housebroken, and that he loves sleeping outside. The problem is, how much harder will it be to take care of two dogs? I need some help!

Are there any legs in there? He is so cute! I love his brindle markings!
I hope he is alright! Keep us updated! Also remember that your house is a new, and scary place for him. Sometimes they will get dirrahea and not eat because of the change, but still take him to the vet anyways.
Maybe it was the way he was in the light it looked like he had brindle markings.. but it doesnt look like that now. LOL
That's good that he likes his crate. Kiba hated her crate for the longest time because it meant being away from mommy. I had to get a wire crate and she only cries when we leave the house. And will sometimes put her self into the crate, lay down, and goto sleep.
