Does any one have any advice on how I can check the credentials of a puppy store. I have heard that the owner of the store treats the puppys bad.....the puppies are adorable though. so i wanted to go online and see what i can find.....

There are two stores that i am considering to buy from.I told both store owners that i am puppy shopping and looking around. One store owner said (out of the blue) well dont go to this store on so and so street (The other store i had in mind) because the lady mis treats the dogs and 10 died this year....so i am not sure if the one owner is saying that for her benefit or if is is true. That is why i am asking if there is a way to check if her statements were false.?
The person is probably just saying that to keep your business.
I wouldn't buy a puppy from any store. The owners are only wanting your business and could careless about any of the puppies or the mother. They are there to make money any way they can, even if it means back breeding or breeding sick dogs. Also when you buy a puppy from a store you can not see the pedigrees of the puppies or it's parents. If you only want a pet and the pedigree or what it's parents look like doesn't mean much to you then go to a dog pound to find a puppy. There are plenty to choose from there. And believe me, you'll feel so much better about yourself knowing that you save a puppy from being pts.
If it's a a store that sells puppies, run and run fast. Any puppy that is being sold in a store, came either a puppy milll, or a back yard breeder, which isn't much different than a puppy mill. The only way I would get a pup without seeing the mother, father or both, is from a Shelter or a pound. There are no reputable atores selling puppies.

thank you all for your responses but no one answered my question..... does any one know of a website or anything that i can check the credentials of the puppy store..like to see if other people have had complaints about the stores?
I think no one anawered your question because just about everyone knows that ANY store selling puppies is buying from a uppy milll or a BYB. There NO storees in the country selling dogs that hs not had one complaint and even after several people telling you that, you still want to chek credtionals from a store that deals with puppy mills and BYB's. I honestly can't believe this.
You haven't answered Tessa's question on what breed your looking for either.
What kind of breed are you looking for? Are you looking for one just as a pet? If your wanting a purebred why not go to a responsible breeder where you can see the mother and possibly the father and their pedigrees? If you looking for one as a pet why not check out breed rescues or your local pound?
Which so many other options other then a store why would anyone buy a puppy from a petstore? Especially since their puppies are so high priced? For a Yorkie without papers your looking at close to $2000 for one at Petland where I live. and that's with it being oversized for it's breed.

Just google "CH yorkshire terrier" and you will find some good breeders.
Here is a whole liste of Yorkis that need homes on www.petfinder.com They are all "baby" and I did a national search. http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi (I don't think the link is working. Just search for breed and what age you'd like and your location)
Sorry, no web site promotions. I understand you are tying to help

No matter what you buy from cars to school supplies EVERYONE has complaints, and there opinions. I thank everyone for their opinions regaurding this matter, but i am looking for something specfic. I heard that there is a website where you can see certain information about puppy stores. There is nothing wrong with checking out any stores credentials. I am not saying i am going to buy the pups i want to make sure that the certain acusations I heard are true or false.
I just think it's a waste of time and energy that could be better spent on fining a finding a reputable breeder. And yes, , you will find people complain about everything, but I don't think that you can put a store that sells , living, breathing animals, into the same category as a store that sells school supplies. It's like comparing apples to oranges
I am very young and i have a whole life to live. i am not worried about time, if i was i would not invest in a new puppy. ( by the way i bought my first yorkie from a breeder.....imagine that ;) I was just curious how i can find information to futher expand my knowledge.
*Dont get tooo excited Harlee29 iam not putting animals in the same category as school supplies,
