Some of you may or may not remember the problems I had with Angie growling and biting me. Well, she is now in her third week of obedience school. I ended up getting a private trainer since she was a problem child.
Angie is now 5 1/2 months old and the first week, the trainer dealt with the growling and biting issue, and she was like a different pup. Now that we're trying to learn the down and stay command, she is becoming a little terror again. She will do sit and sat forever and I can even walk into another room, but to get her to do down is like pulling teeth and she starts with the growling and biting again. Of course, she didn't act that way when the trainer here, and he made me do the commands so he would tell me what I was doing wrong or right.
What really bothers me is that I just brought her in from going to the potty, and she tried attacking me outside and even ripped a hole in my husband's sweat pants while trying to bite my leg. I just don't know what to do with her. I'm calling her trainer in the morning. I think she'll be the first dog to flunk obedience school and she's the only one in the class.
She's supposed to be an Australian Shepherd mix. I can't be sure since I got her from the Shelter, but my trainer told me that he has an Australian Shepherd , and his dog was really stubborn a a pup. She just loves him and will do anything he asks.
No, didn't actually choose another methodd. Angie definitely needed obedience classes as it was, but she neeed more than basic, sit, down, heel and stay, so after researching various classes, I I opeted for a private trainer. I am really happy with him and she will do almost anything in the world for him, but, there are times, she will even be stubbborn with him. The place I decided to go with is for the life of the dog should problems arise later on, too, so it's not a course that's over in six weeks.
When she tried to bit me last night night, I yelled a shaep no, and started walking away. She chose to follow me, but kept barking and trying to bite me again. I'm worried that my neighbors are going to start complaining because she pulls thise little stunt late at night. She doesn't do it all the time, and most of the time she'll do what she has to, and then follow me back inside.
